Only problem with the laser mounted to the grips is that they are only "dead on" at a specific distance.

Since they are not mounted directly on or under the barrell (to the side on the grips) they will be accurate out to the distance you sight them in to

Closer... they will be off to the side the laser is mounted on
Further out, they will be off to the opposite side you have them mounted.

They are decent training aids, but not a substitute for practice.

I have had people use them to remove a flinch from shooting, with dummy rounds, etc... effective.

I have one on my Ruger .357 Magnum SP 101 and it works very well however, because the stocks are made of hard plastic on this model I don't use them for long sessions at the range, my hand can't take the pounding of the full power Magnums after 25 or 30 rounds.

I have used them. Enjoyed it too. One of my .45's ( a kimber) came with them. I love it in low light. My dad is getting up there in age (72) and his night vision is gone. So, he has them installed on his .45 and sighted at 12 yards dead on. This is his "house gun" and he lives in a small place. With them sighted at that distance, he puts all the rounds in a pie plate sized x ring from point blank out to about 20 yards. More than sufficient for his needs of close range self defense.

I used one a revolver once at the range and it worked better than I thought. It was kind of fun being able to aim and fire faster. My friend still has it and swears by it.
