No, none of the crimes I have not been charged with prevented me from becoming a cop. In fact, I'm not charged with crimes on a daily basis and I haven't been fired yet. Only crimes you have been charged with will hinder you becoming a cop.

Your question is almost to vague to be answered correctly. Most generally if you have been arrested or recently committed crimes involving moral turpitude then you should probably not waste your time. Most states regulate what crimes are disqualifying. However if you have not been arrested or convicted of a crime, then whatever you are worried about will more then likely come out in background investigation or polygraph.

I imagine if you haven't been charged there is no way of anyone knowing that you have committed a crime...
