Satan gives you false hope, material objects for you to play with so that you will worship a false religion.

Islam doesn't need all of your fancy machines, you cant take it with you when you die.

I guess it's because whatever people's belief system is would always make them the happiest. Who would believe something that does not make them happy? Since America is a mixture of all cultures and beliefs, Christianity which has stood for such a long time in America stays strongest force in the nation. When there are so many races, nationalities, and cultures in this country, there would always be ONE that stands out the most which kind of unifies the entire nation. Also, since Christianity is derived from the West, its power remains strong in America over all the religions from the East. Not only do people believe what they believe bring them happiness and well being, but also feel better when they stay with their western culture instead of that from the East. Europe, on the other hand, does not have many immigrants as America does. People do not seem to need to fight for this religion as much; there are many less religious choices there. As we evolve, religion does evolves too. People do not believe in religions as much as before. People thrive for something more high-tech instead. They are happier with how they evolve.

Uh, it was the other way around during a little thing called the dark ages. Need I remind you that the Muslims invented algebra. In fact, interaction between Muslims and Christians helped stimulate the scientific revolution in Europe. History has shown that Christians are just as capable of ignorance, violence, and hatred as any other group of people. This is especially disgusting for Christians because Jesus' message was one of non violence. He taught love for enemies and turning the other cheek. In general, theocracies and monarchies are backward countries. Any situation in which one person or a small group of people hold unquestioned power and authority ultimately leads to "backwardness".

I have to agree gwlech. The Muslim Empires of the Middle Ages were far more advanced than the European countries. The only reason they fell into decay was because they succumbed to the decline all empires do--and the U.S. is no exception. I don't hate the U.S. and seeing it fall would be one of the last things in the world I would want, but the U.S. will lose its position in the world as the top dog one day. Its success and its inevitable fall has nothing to do with Christ or God. And another thing-- I agree with vinslave about there being no absolute truth and no absolute religion. Thank you, Vinslave

Wrong. Take a look at the behavior of Christianity about 2000 years ago, it will be the same as Muslim today. Need evidence? Ever hear of the Inquisition? Ever hear about what the church did to millions of native south Americans?

The only reason Christianity calmed down was because of the laws that were established in the countries that it resided in. If it were not for these laws, Chritianity would still be killing people.

Possibly a lot of fear and control of what's allowed in islamic countries has inhibitted creativity. In the West science was soft-braked for a while by the Catholic church, but I think Jesus in the Bible didn't give the Church the legitimacy to control people and society. The Koran gives rules for controlling society - hence religion in muslim countries is likely to be much more inhibitive because of Koranic teachings.

well, most western countries which have the majority of christian population have "separated church and state" thereby progressing as a society/civilization by ensuring that human rights, freedoms of press/speech/and yes even religion are available to all, thereby allowing us to critique society and improve upon it for the benefit of all.

unfortunately, western civilization has played a HUGE role in keeping oppressive, backward, fundamentalist dictators/regimes in power in the "backward" nations in order that we can exploit their resources to make our lives easier and to make more money for the corporations.

as for your one TRUE religion, there is none. ALL religions were invented my MAN, and we all know how FALLIBLE, IMPERFECT, and CORRUPT mankind can be... i think they even talk about it in the Bible...

LMAO

first: the Ottoman Empire, Abbasid and Song Dynasty China were far more advanced than European America during the dark ages.

second: its not until we see people moving away from religion that we see any progress, i.e. rennisance, hippy counter-culture, etc.

if you are not just trolling and you legitimately believe this statement, I suggest you pick up a history book and do some reading...preferably one with a really good bibliography (and no the bible is NOT a credible secondary, primary or anything source)

Why should anyone trust in Christianity over Islam, Buddhism, Mormonism, or anything else? It is because there are absolute truths, because only in Christianity is there accurate fulfilled prophecies of a coming Messiah. Only in Christianity do we have the extremely accurate transmission of the eyewitness documents (gospels) so we can trust what was originally written. Only in Christianity do we have the person of Christ who claimed to be God, performed many miracles to prove His claim of divinity, who died and rose from the dead, and who said that He alone was the way the truth and the life (John 14:6). All this adds to the legitimacy and credibility of Christianity above all other religions -- all based on the person of Jesus. If follows that if it is all true about what Jesus said and did, then all other religions are false because Jesus said that He alone was the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). It could not be that Jesus is the only way and truth and other religions also be the truth.

Either Jesus is true and all other religions are false or other religions are true and Jesus is false. There are no other options. I choose to follow the risen Lord Jesus.

Muslims are not "more backward", they simply, often, choose not to subscribe to the materialistic ways of life that other people, not just "Christians" live. There is not "one true religion" for everyone, that's as illogical as can be.
