My boyfriend had just come home from Iraq, and we had a huge welcome home party for him. We were all just sitting around chatting towards the end of the night, I was just so happy he was home and he was cuddling with me. He leaned over to kiss me, and when he pulled back he was slipping the ring on my finger, and he asked if i would marry him. He was so nervous but it took me completley by suprise. Our good friends were able to be there and it made me SOOOO happy!

It was this year in June (I had just turned 22 in May) and we had been 2gether for 4 years and had known each other since we were 4.

He took me to the Brad Paisley concert in Lemore, Ca (b/c he sings our song) and he proposed to me at the concert :-) I had no clue and I was so excited and happy, it was the best way he could of ever proposed :-) and yes we're still 2gether in the process of planning our wedding for next year

My first was more out of obligation to me than out of love. I had just moved to a different town and we were trying to make a long distance relationship work. It was on my 22nd birthday as my birthday gift. Very unromantic. I asked him if he had even got me a card or anything for my birthday (he'd been not so nice that day) and he said, "yes, here, so will you?" Needless to say, I was fortunate enough that he cheated on me before the wedding. (Thankfully).

The second time was the best. I came home to find my house totally cleaned and my husband (now) cooking me dinner. I had been out of town and was tired and crabby and it was so nice to have a relaxing evening where I didn't have to think about anything. As we were sitting on the patio outside after dinner, he started telling me how much he loved me and that he couldn't be without me. He got down on one knee, and the sprinklers turned on (very funny) but he proposed anyway, and I said yes. That was about a year and a half ago, we've been married for 3 months and I never thought I'd ever be this happy.

December 20, 2006.
After 8 years of being together (5 living together).
We were married on Sept. 1, 2007.

He never even got to ask "will you marry me" because I opened my Christmas present (the size of the jewelry box made me think it was a bracelet the sneaky monkey!) saw the ring and became completely incoherent for about 20 minutes. I jumped on him and said yes before he even asked.

We had been together so long, you can understand why I was so happy (I do recall screaming FINALLY!).

Then he told me to call my mom as she was expecting it (he asked her permission, how adorable!) so I called her though it was almost 1am her time (we lived on opposite coasts). It took several tries to dial as I was so excited I forgot my mom's phone number.

Yeah, it was a great Christmas. :)

I should add one reason he waited was he was finishing his PhD. Handed in his thesis on the 18th, proposed on the 20th. We were both 27.

We were on holiday in Amsterdam, we'd spent a few days there and on our last night we went to our favourite restaurant and while we were looking at the menu he said "When are you going to marry me?" and I said "You know I'd marry you tomorrow if we could" and his response was "So let's do it then". Obviously we didn't get married the next day, but we planned the wedding in 6 months and married on the 1st September this year. Yes we are still together!

My now husband asked me to go ring shopping after one month of dating. I was 25, he was 32 at the time. 3 months later at a pre-Christmas tree festival party, he proposed in front of a room full of people.

We've been married over 2 years, together almost 5 years.

I was married without a proposal, we just agreed on a day.
BUT
My lil sister was waiting for her honey to come back with a pizza one day while she was on the phone with me...
and he came through the door and dropped it.
She went to help him clean up(because shes slightly OCD)and when she opened the box to see how bad itr was; there was a ring taped to the inside and NO pizza!
VERY COOL.
Her husband doesnt seem very romantic to me, but he apparently had it for a little while, that was about 5 years ago.

My first one I was very very young, 17 he bought me a very very nice solitaire for Christmas. Nothing was said or asked, though I had no plans to marry for a few years and didn't. Moved in together when I was almost 19. Even broke up "for good" once, but we were miserable. So upon making up, I just said how about lets set a date....I have never seen him so happy. So we set it up for late may the following year. I was 21 & he was 25; got hitched and lived happily for a few years. We divorced when I was 25. We are still friends.
Second one is even less romantic. We figured to buy a home and have babies we should get married. He told me to pick out a ring and go and buy it. I did but refused to wear it, until he formerly asked me. He tried in some fumbling attempt to ask me, we married when I was 26. Nine years later, a house, hugely in debt and no kids; I finally got away from the man who turned out to be verbally and emotionally and financially abusive.
Will I marry again? who knows...but I'm a sucker for love.

I will be proposing to my boyfriend this winter. He knows that I'm going to propose, but he doesn't know when. He's bought my ring so that he can make his proposal to me after I propose to him.

I am planning to leave him detailed instructions telling him to meet me at a beautiful train station (we live in two separate cities, so we take the train back and forth to see each other...romantic). I'm going to pretend that I can't get together that weekend, and then direct him to these instructions. Then we're going to have a romantic dinner and go to the really nice lounge in the station. I'm going to propose either while we are dancing, or just while we're walking around the terminals.

I know he's going to expect it by the time he gets the instructions to be dressed up and arrive on a particular train, etc. But I'm still planning to keep him in anticipation until I am ready to say the words.

Wish me luck!

ps- We're in our early twenties and we will have been dating for about a year and a month by the time I ask.
