You are looking at the best that junk science has to offer, especially considering that there is no carbon intake variable established for cattle. And the other little truth that atmospheric methane levels have remained fairly flat for the last ten years.

This is the politics of AGW science. They climate models are seriously flawed, but they can't fix them because then the doomsday scenarios would disappear and the climate scientists would find it hard to justify their funding.

Researching farts answers a very real human need which is how can governments claim to be meeting their Kyoto targets while spending hardy any money. The answer - the newest growth industry - independent consultants writing reports and making emissions disappear with smoke and mirrors. Perhaps we should call this industry climate magic.

alright i like the pun at the end but here is some science to back that up. Im assuming that you know some stuff about global warming and how the big gas is CO2 (carbon dioxide). Well cow farts are made up of Methane which another more dangerous greenhouse gas. The methane from cow farts supply 1/5 of all methane production. By eating less meat, there will be fewer cows being raised to supply our meat needs.

Some people just can't deal with being human, they look for any excuse to feel guilty about something, and then try to make everyone else take the same guilt trip to keep them company. In this example, they don't want to respond to the fact that if we reduce or eliminate our intake of meat in favor of vegetables and grains....we fart more, just like all of those beef cattle that used to graze out on the organic bean section.

if they outlawed flatulence, these scientist would not be able to speak ! welcome to stupid land, sad to say people already believe it will work ! Read in the newspaper, that people who eat meat are causing global warming ! whatever agenda that they want to push, they will say something stupid like this! global warming is not caused by man ! all the other planets are warming up too! makes you wonder the true reason behind global warming issue?, control, money or both? all they need is stupid people that believe everything they say!

Darn, the Dinosaurs should have farted more after that asteroid struck the planet and started the first major Ice Age, maybe they could have stopped it from happening.

dude, methane (cow farts, but also rotting leaves under melting permafrost in places like Siberia) is about 23 times more potent greenhouse gas than CO2.

So it is a very important thing.

Maybe not. apparently, methane has 24 times the 'greenhouse' effect as CO2.

There is a lot of methane being produced by decaying materials in the arctic tundra as it melts that make the global warming problem much worse than we feared.

Global warming is real, there for we should do everything we can to try to stop it. Have you ever read how much gas and chemicals are out in the air, because of humans. Yeah, we are insane in many ways, part of that is because we don't do enough to help global warming, when we know it could lead to disaster, and we go to war for no reason. So, I agree.
