Have you tried using the same commands - double-click a bar to select it, then right-click, get "format data series,"
click Fill, etc........

They certainly seem to have done away with all the striped, brick and other fillings. The nearest down is when right click and go to data series is either the gradient fill where you have quite a selection or the picture/texture fill. With the solid colour and any other of course you can play around with transparency but if its to save on ink as was a good idea for using stripes, its not there any more. They are trying to make graphics and the like more colourful and are taking away some of the simpler formats we used to have in XP.

Hmm, it's the same way. If you want a vertical bar chart. Enter your data as usual. Rows represent the X axis and Columns represent Y axis in your vertical bar chart. Once the data is in, select your range, then select "insert," followed by the model of the chart. Finally, you can change the values of your axis by right clicking it on your chart.
