About 20%.
I choose that number because you have the catholics that claim to be Christians, but catholicism teaches a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1). So that eliminates a large percentage.
Then you have a large group that claim to be Christians but then deny the truth of Jesus being God, or deny that believing that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again is the only way to heaven. To deny either means that the person is not a Christian.

Beliefs and religious observances are one thing.
The way a life is lived is a different thing.
I can't give you the numbers, but I can tell you, that I have come across men and women who believe precisely as I do, some of whom live their Christian faith superlatively well, and whose lives are an inspiration to all who know them . . . and others who live lives about which, well, the less said the better.
And then there are people who adhere to Christian faiths other than mine, among whom the same might be said - inspirational lives . . . all the way to lives that are by no means edifying to examine. And everything in between.
Two things about all this: 1) everyone is on a journey, I hope, to becoming closer to the Lord and, a better Christian. If we take the long view, and ask, from God's perspective, might this annoying and irritating and sinful individual be a "work in progress", who might turn out to be a glorious example of Christian heroism twenty years from now? Maybe? How can I know one way or another? "Man's steps are from the Lord, how can any man know his own way?"
And 2) As the Lord has forgiven me much, am I not called to patience and forgiveness toward others? As the Lord has been forebearing with me in my sins, am I not called to be gracious and gentle toward my fellow servants?

Thats a hard question to answer since nobody really knows what feelings and decisions people have made in their mind. It also depends on your definition of "really Christian". Are we judging Christians against the average Christian person, or Christians against our own rules and the biblical standard?
I have a feeling a lot of people are going to get some suprises come judgement day, but I would like to think that most people I know that say they are Christian are actually living a Christian life. It's not my place to guess or tell someone they are lying when it would only be conjecture...

Well, I saw some poll data about maybe 10 years ago from 3 different "Christian" organizations.
The more liberal group said that about 1/3 of professing Christians are real born again Christians (33%).
A moderate group said about 15%
A conservative group said about 5%
The 15% group was a Southern Baptist ministry. I think they may closer than either other group.
I believe the numbers would be much higher in groups that regularly attend and are active in their church ministry.

It is really not for me to say what percentage. However, Jesus prophesied in Matthew chapter 7 that there will be a few surprises.
We are told to work out our own salvation (in other words take care of our own business) but I dare say that many who claim the name of Christian are that in name only.

Even the trendy Jews (that must be considered as having the OT as their Bible plus later books) no longer concentration on homosexuality as a sin. Many see the regulations and regulations of historical cases merely making use of to those cases and locations. regrettably, it is the needed Conservative Christian sects that still see the OT as literal and nonetheless real; even nevertheless they do no longer carry on with the Kosher meals regulations, they nonetheless look obsessed on the violence and punishment of the regulations from the cruel cases of previous. The Bible is self-referential: It generally solutions its very own questions in case you look. Sodom and Gomorrah (and the two-4 different cities destroyed) have been sinful by making use of mistreating their widows and orphans, that grow to be their sin. The anti-gay interpretations have been generally from a needed insurrection in the 1100's.

Greetings,
On a really good day, probably .05% are true Christians. Following the word of God and true readers and students of the Bible. Also understanding what it is that is in the Bible.
In Gods' word He tells us that they(us) will have eyes to see with and ears to hear with but that they(us) will not be able to see or hear. I suppose that this is true in quite a lot of peoples lives. I am discussing these items strictly in their spiritual context and not as a physical handicap or impairment.

A true Christian can't answer that question because we are not to judge the souls of others.
That would be a waste of time, there is so much to do and so little time.
Peace be with you.

If they say they are Christian...then they are Christian. So 100% for me.
It is easy to see what you are trying to do here, the old "True Scotsman" fallacy. Of course you will get some Christians to fall for it, but what does that actually prove to you?
EDIT: There you go, Chris and King Bliss fell in your little trap. Now that you have had your laugh...can you tell me if this proves anything to you or was it just for giggles?
You know I could ask the same thing about atheist and get the same replies...I have actually done it in the past. Some say about half of atheist are really agnostic...the ones they are talking about say that they are really atheist and the other ones are "hardcore" atheist.

5% of the population are the ones who truly want to serve God and do. If you love God, you will keep His commandments, right? It really isn't for me to judge, God knows the heart. But there is a lot you can tell about a person by their outward appearance.
Hope this helps!
What is your opinion on the matter?
Blessings!
