Oh, I would just pay the ticket. Just because everyone else parks illegally is not an excuse for you to do it.

Congrats on your good record.

Congratulations, I just got my first parking ticket last week, also.

You've already answered your question. You were 12 minutes late. They are not picking on you, it's their job. Pay the ticket. It's allot less expensive than not paying the ticket and having to pay court costs to fight the ticket and you're sure don't want something as stupid as an unpaid parking tickets ending up on your credit history.

A lot of local authorities now require wardens to prove that your car was parked illegally by taking a photograph of it. In your case, i presume they would have had to have taken 2 pictures with a date stamp on. You should find out if this is the policy in your area. If so, and they did not take a photograph, you could use this to your defence. Consult a solicitor though to be sure but it's an idea to try. If your local authority are unable to provide pictures prooving the offence, and it is standard policy to do so, and they try and prosecute you for failing to pay, then you should contest it in court and argue that there is no evidence. In that case it ought to be thrown out of court.

In fairness, you have just admitted that you were in the wrong, why would you want to contest it?

Because other people do it, does that make it OK?

Other people drink and drive, is that OK too?
