Bud, Miller and Coors are not real beer. Nothing made with rice can be called beer. Try some different styles of beer, if you're at a bar, they might not have a huge selection, but you could try a stout, or maybe a wheat beer. Sam Adams is also really good. If you're not a huge beer drinker, look for a SA Light, it's not as hoppy as their Boston Lager and you may like that.
Of course you could always have something other than beer. There's wine, or hard liquor too. Try a nice mixed drink, rum & coke, a screwdriver, martini, the list is endless in this category.
Just remember a couple things. Moderation is the key to enjoying a night out, and experimentation and variety is the spice of life.

Try an ale, either a red ale (Smithwick's Irish Ale, pronounced "Smithicks") or a brown ale (Newcastle). Those two are the absolute best of their particular kind.
Microbrews will also generally have something along those lines as well.
I would also try a seasonal beer. Samuel Adams has probably the best seasonals around.
And congratulations on knowing well enough that Budweiser, Miller, Coors, and others like them are to be avoided, as they aren't really beer.

I hate beer but I can put down Corona and Killians. Killians is really smooth and actually kind of good.
And get a shot called a Washington Apple!
Happy Early Birthday!
P.s. Just because everyone else is having beers doesn't mean you have to. Apple Liquor with Sprite is yummy. Or one my buddies always drinks gin n' tonics. Jager and Red Bull are really good too!Thats what I had on my 21st.

You could try a very light beer, which will have less of the flavor. Something like Michelob Ultra or something. (Depending where you live, look for some local brews, which sometimes can be fun and have nice flavor. The micro near my house makes blueberry beer, and it has blue berries which float at the bottom. Yummy).. . Or drink wine, or a mixed drink of course! White wine is good, or something with soda, so you taste the alcohol less. . . .Good luck and happy early birthday!

Bud and Coors are weak lager-style beers. You should try darker, more flavorful ales. This time of year, there are lots of winter brews out there with more flavor. Ask the bartender to give you some samples from the tap and pick one.
p.s. go with beers from the tap over bottes or cans.

Beer is acquired taste.
Wine is also an acquired taste, but mixing red wine with gingerale or 7-up - tastes just like liquid bubblegum.
Rum and coke (or diet coke) is usually a good drink for people just starting out.
Flavored vodka with club soda is good too. Stoli Raz and Soda, one of my favs.

Your best bet is to stick with flavors that you know you like. Just be careful though, the drinks that taste good (basically the ones where you can't taste the alcohol) are the ones that will sneak up on you... Make sure you have a driver and have fun!!

From a nondrinker to another, I would highly suggest amaretto zour and a rum and coke. They taste sweet but don't drink too fast. Take your time with the drinks. Have a happy and safe birthday.

budweiser stopped making beer a long time ago. what they have today is dog piss. and light or lite beer is just as bad, no matter who makes it. a good ale or a mgd might be to your liking. but you don't have to drink beer do you? try a pina colada. they are exellent.
