Ok I'm going to see him today and I've had history of kidney stones. I think I might have them again but I'm not sure. Thinking that I might not have them doesn't help me at all. What if I go in and he tells me I have them again and I need another surgery? I go through this every year and I'm always scared! What do I do? Please put in responses quickly, I leave in an hour.

I don't want surgery or to be cut. I don't want to go back to the hospital.

What do you mean you think you have kidney stones... I had them and there was no think, I knew... and so did any one else I know who has had them. While I don't like going to a doctor, I can just be sure that it will only get worse if I don't.

I've had kidney stones myself, and theres no way you could mistake that pain.
The guy who says only women and wimps are scared of pain never gave birth or passed a kidney stone.
One thing I do know, you have to do what you have to do.
Theres no getting around it.
There are drugs that help, and of course drinking a lot of water, but if that's your fate, then you just have to get on with it.
Theres really not a lot of choice, but there is also the kind of stone breakup that used water tanks and some kind of soundwave that breaks up the stones.
If you are really afraid of surgery as about that as an alternative.
Good luck.

Just go and then come home and reflect on what was said by the Dr and write us again. Kidney stones do recur. Im sorry you had to have surgery before. He is not going to keep you today. You will be able to come home and think about everything. Try to write down questions for the Dr and also write down what he says to you since it is an emotional time and sometimes we forget

Well, we don't always get what we WANT do we. You do what every is best for your health. The alternative is severe.

Maybe it's time to talk with some health professionals and see if you can find why you form kidney stones and alter your diet so you can possibly avoid them.

Maybe the doctor can do the sonic treatment of your stones? which means no surgery.

Now get over the scared stuff and take care of yourself.

Do some deep breathing before entering the office, tell you Doctor you really don';t want to have surgery to remove the stones, they can be passed, it takes time and its painful, but just let him know your thoughts and worries. Hope this helps and good luck hon!

Please check WebMD because there are non-surgical methods. One is they put you in a tub & use vibration to break them up. Had a coworker do it & no more surgeries. Good luck to you. You don't need a shrink like one suggested. You need a Dr. to listen & find you solutions. There has to be something causing recuurence. WebMD has links that you would find useful for that info as well.

It's natural to be afraid, but you must use common sense over your fears. Just remember the cure is a better option than the sickness. Good luck.

then stop making them come back!!!! Too much beer and not enough cleansing liquids like cranberry juice, tea and water add to the problem. Change your ways and you wont have to hear it from the doctor. He is there to help..not to give you bad news all the time.

I would see another doctor. Going through this every year cant be healthy. Also, see a nutritionist. Your diet could be causing the recurrence.
