in Des Moines, Iowa is tough right now. I am having a hard time even getting a job through temp. agencies. My fear is, the company I worked at for 11 years closed. Therefore, prospective employers have no verification. Or is it just the crummy job market right now? Getting worried!

Do not worry about the company closing down because that actually works in your favor as you stuck out until the end when an employer sees that on your resume. Also the job market has been down in more areas of the country than it has been on the upswing. I live in melbourne, florida and it is horrible here also. I work from home and that is the only thing that has saved me.

It's a crummy job market in some areas and in some fields.

Do you have the name and phone number of a former supervisor where you used to work? You could use them for verification of your former employment.

Good luck.

My personal opinion is that the job market is slow at the moment. I live here in Seattle WA and am having trouble finding a job. Things here though wont pick up until Feb. of 2008. Jobs just aren't like they used to be. Hope this helps!

The job market here in Denver is ok - not as good as I have seen it, but still opportunity. They say we will be avoiding a recession through all the credit trouble. Lets hope that is true. Companies are probably just tightening the belt in the short term ....

Hope this helps you!
