Hi, I just found out that after a sprain in my ankle, sprain in my big toe and fractured foot. That nearly 3 months after I hurt it, that now I have RSD.

Has anyone else ever had this before?
How long does it take to heal?
What is the longest it can take to get better?

I have it in my foot and my foot is swollen. The doctor is sending me to a therapist.

Has anyone ever had this before? Please tell me how long it takes to get better, etc.

What is the longest it can take?
Will it ever get better?
Is there anything in particular that I need to know about this?

Thank you.

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD)/Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic condition that has no cure for it even though there are many hings that can be done for the pain which can put it into remission. I have had RSD/CRPS for a little over 2 years now which I got from a knee surgery. Sympathetic blocks, physical therapy, nerve medications (pain medications are typically ineffective), spinal cord stimulator implants, IV infusions, and epidural catheters are typically the most common treatments for RSD/CRPS. I would also suggest getting a referral to a doctor (usually they are pain management doctors or neurologists) that has a good knowledge background of RSD/CRPS. Here are some helpful websites in learning more about RSD/CRPS:

Good luck!

Hi...I developed RSD after i injured my left foot. I had to have physical therapy for about 4 months, 3 times a week, and in about 6 to 8 months it got better. My foot has never been the same since getting the RSD, and the doctor said it will probably not ever be like it was before. It gets bad when it's cold outside, and sometimes turns blue. Make sure you keep up with therapy because that is the only thing that helped me. Be patient because it does take a while for this to get better. Good luck to you, hope you feel better soon :-)
