what would be the reasons a company would string you along as far as employment goes. this company says i have the job barring the background check, well its been 7 weeks now, i have even given them oppurtunitiys to be honest with me, i told them the company if there not interested i will move on, but they still say they want to hire me, barring the background check. why would a company string someone along like this??, i just dont get it. i mean its simple we either want you or we dont. please help out with your thoughts on this???

Good grief, haven't they resolved this YET? Sounds like you've done everything you can do. I'd look for another job, and if a good one comes up before they get back to you, take it (and hope THEY don't take that long to do whatever checking they want to do). If the first company gets their issues resolved before you start somewhere else, then you can still choose to go with them if you want to.

Seven weeks, unless it's an application for a high level security clearance, is an extremely long time.

Good luck.
