Ah yes, basic training, 8 weeks of hell that I can look back at and remember nothing but the best parts.

Yes 8 weeks of pure hell and worth every second of it.

You learn to be a grown up real fast. You are tested physically and mentally , constantly.

Basic is not a brainwashing but it prepares you for life in the military. It teaches you military courtesy and protocol. It teaches you team work. And it teaches you to survive.

A lot of PT in the morning, march everywhere you go thats for the whole of basic, but each phase is different. As you go you learn and more soldiering skills, smokings are less frequent and you get more privileges. For the first few weeks expect a lot of yelling and the first few days there is going to a lot of briefings. But as you go the training becomes a lot more fun.

They are trained in many aspects of the job they will have once they complete the course. So they become physically fit through training. They learn how to use weapons, also how to take care of the weapons, They learn defensive fighting skills. Pretty much like any job, you learn everything so your prepared to do it well.

Think of it as a combination of every scalding you got (or should have gotten) from your parents, combined with physical training to the point of exhaustion, making friends with guys that you normally wouldn't relate to and learning to work together, learning discipline, learning how to shoot a rifle and how to defend yourself...

All of this and more crammed into 8 weeks of your life.
