According to one Mormon woman, "If you want to know what original Mormonism is all about, then you look at Warren Jeffs church." Polygamy is practice by many Mormon leaders like Joseph Smith Jr, Brigham Young, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruff, Lorenzo Snow, Joseph F. Smith, among others. Surprisingly, Gordon B. Hinckley condemned "polygamy" as unscriptural, a revelation that was followed and practice by many Mormon leaders like Joseph Smith Jr, Brigham Young, Lorenzo Snow, and others.

If you want to know about "real" Mormonism then go to the church's web page. I'm a Mormon, and Warren Jeffs ISN'T. He is a pig!

It's a matter of opinion and belief. the LDS church (which is considered mainstream Mormon) believes we are the original church. The FLDS church (warren jeffs et al) believes they are descended down from the original church. It's a break off of sects just like in every other single Christian religion. I do happen to know however, that most members of the FLDS church do not refer to themselves as Mormon.
So I guess it really depends on who you believe had the authority as a prophet? Those that eliminated polygamy or those that continued it?

People on this site, do not pay attention, or are incapable of understanding, that Mormons, (LDS), do NOT practice polygamy any longer, and have NOT done so, since the late 1800's. What is so hard to understand about that statement?
As for Jeffs, he is part of the Reformed LDS church, and has NOTHING to do with ''mainline Mormonism.
Get your facts straight, and stop posting lies.

None of the above represents true Mormonism. What is true Mormonism? The religion of the ancient prophet Mormon. What religion is that? Fundamental Biblical Christianity. Read the Book of Mormon for yourself and see... it bitterly condemns polygamy no exceptions, no excuses. The Book of Mormon terms the practice a whoredom and abomination before God, and those who commit whoredoms shall be thrust down to hell.
Really the religion of Mormon is closer to a Baptist or other conservative Bible only denomination. He is probably rolling in his grave and hurling over what the LDS have done in his name.
Today there are some 100 other Restoration churches that accept the Book of Mormon (really) and the Bible. The LDS are just the largest of these factions, and are one of the poorest representatives of the Book of Mormon, just as Warren Jeffs kook faction is. It is like the Catholics or the Branch Davidians are poor examples of what the Bible really teaches.

What Mormon woman? The one in your head?
Sorry the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true one.
Sorry Polygamy was gone in 1890.
It was Wilford Woodruff who stopped it.

This is more the case, but like Rome, Mormonism is a chameleon that adapts to achieve it's needs. When excluding blacks from the (unBlblical) LDS priesthood became a problem, esp, as they sought to gain converts in places like Africa, the leaders got together and came up with a "revelation," that abrogated the everlasting covenant that forbade such.
Demonstrating their chameleon type ability, Mitt Romney just promised to be faithful to the Constitution as well as his church, which is not fully possible, while his stands on major things have not always been consistent with Mormon morality, and have changed (seemingly) to fit political objectives.
The attempt to portray Mormonism as a form of fundamental Christianity is part of the type of spin that the latter day LDS is especially known for, and such a portrayal is a lie. Having some common moral denominators or beliefs does not makes one a Christian, but (most essentially) repentance and faith in the God of the Bible, which Mormonism has made inot it's own image.
The term Christian comes from the Bible (Acts 11:26), and by no means does it demotes those who believe God was once a man who progressed into being God, as He was always God, as was Jesus (Ps. 90:2l; Mic. 5:2). nor was or is God married and procreating "spirit children," as Mormonism blasphemes.
Nor does God save thru Mormonism, but by direct and genuine repentance toward the God of the Bible and faith toward the Lord Jesus, not that of Mormonism (2 Cor. 11:1-4).
