What are some good moves to help 'cut' my lower abs? I know that most leg lift moves do, and adding weight helps. Any other ideas?

there are no upper or lower abdominals. the rectus abdominis (RA) is a single muscle and muscles either contract as a whole or not at all. this is why it's physiologically impossible to target part of a muscle.

leg lifts, bicycle kicks, etc. cause the RA to contract isometrically. the muscles of the hip flexors that are buried underneath the bottom of the RA are performing all of the work. this is why people say they "feel" these exercises working. using localized fatigue is a poor method of judging the mechanics of an exercise.

the only way to see the entire abdominal wall with out flexing is to decrease your body fat low enough and abdominal training has no effect on body fat stored. the RA is a very small muscle and uses barely any energy to contract. great abs are made in the kitchen not in the gym

if you have a layer of fat all the crunches in the world will not help. you can not spot reduce. You have lower your overall body fat percentage.

I use P90X you can get it here http://www.milliondollarbody.com/store/videos_p90.htm
it has a ab program that is so extreme it called "AB RIPPER X"

it is by far the most intense ab program ever. it's 11 different exercises at 25 reps each without rest in between sets at a total of 349 reps!! it's is the most extreme ever. If you want results nothing is more intense.

Try swiss ball. It is very effective for abs area.

When you do a crunch on the floor your upper abs muscles are working. When you do it on the Swiss ball, your core muscles; which consist of all the muscles in your abs area, muscles in your back, your pelvic area and hips are working to help keep you on the ball. You are working more muscles so you actually increased the value of your exercise.

It is really inexpensive and effective exercise for the abs.
