doctor gave me Imitrex, which I took and that worked but I guess you can't take it a lot or often. Therefore, she presribed me Promethazine. I have to be honest, I'm EXTREMELY skeptical to try it out just by reading the side effects. Does anyone know if they are really that common? The shortness of breath, the uncontrollable movements, etc? Does anyone know anything better to cure a migraine. Currently I have a headache, it's not throbbing so I know it's not a migraine but I wanted to try Excedrine Migraine too, any thoughts? Advice? Etc? If there are any doctors or nurses out there, would love to hear from you!!! Thanks!!

If your insurance won't give you any trouble (provided you have insurance) I would suggest making an appointment with a neurologist. They will have more expertise in this area than a general practitioner.

Excedrin migraine is just aspirin with caffeine. It works for some people, but it really isn't anything that special. You could try downing a coke with whatever pain reliever you have handy for a similar effect.

I get migraines rarely enough that I haven't sought treatment. I find that lying down in a quiet, dark room works best. Of course, if you have to work that isn't really practical.

LONG -- BUT worth the reading.

I know this will help you ... Please make the connection.

I am a nurse with over 25 years experience in this area and I have seen a lot of people with various illnesses caused from chemicals and fragranced products as well as VOC’s in their homes, schools and workplace. This problem is growing as more and more chemicals are being introduced and used on a daily basis.

We are seeing more and more people with Asthma, Migraines, Headaches, Allergies, Hives and respiratory illnesses. I can not emphasize how important it is to educate yourself about MCS and the harm you may be doing to your health by using chemicals and fragranced products.

If you or a loved one suffers from Asthma, Allergies, Autism, chronic headaches, reproductive problems, Migraines, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia, you need to read further and learn about the signs and symptoms of MCS - Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

Most doctors will not inform you about this because patients as a whole like to walk out of a doctors office with a prescription for some magical medicine and they do not want to be told that their expensive new perfume or newly installed carpet may be the culprit. So, the doctor will give you medications and many of these meds either do not work or cause other health problems.

Chemicals and fragranced products are often the root of all evil when it comes to your health. Many of the below mentioned items are common triggers to sinus, asthma, itching, headaches, Migraines and allergy problems amongst other health issues. Get rid of them and your lungs will thank you and you will breathe easier.

And, it is not only personal body or cleaning products causing havoc on your health….many people become ill after wearing brand new clothing, dry-cleaned clothes, installing new carpet, painting, buying a new mattress or after home renovations because of the Flame Retardants, Benzenes, Formaldehydes, etc. used in these products. So the answer is NO, you are not imagining that 2 weeks after your home, office or classroom got renovated you started to become ill, get dizzy or have headaches. This is happening more and more these days and adults as well as children are becoming sicker and sicker.

Unfortunately, too many doctors compound the problem by prescribing chemical medications to try to alleviate the symptoms of an already chemical overloaded body and they rarely tell the patient to eliminate the chemical offenders. How many times have I seen people in the grocery store with Bounce, Glade Plug-Ins and Febreeze in their shopping cart along with a bottle of Benadryl , Migraine Excedrin and a box of Allergy Tablets ? Why don’t they make the connection?

BIG NO-NO’s
No Bounce or dryer sheets
No Febreeze
No Glade Plug-ins
No scented candles
No Fragranced Products on Body, Hair or Clothing
No Smoke
No Dander
No Sprays

IVe had migraines for YEARS

About the ONLY thing that helps is ZOMIG...theyve had me on Topamax, Immitrex, Maltax, Migrazone, you name it,,,depakote....and a lot of these are for seizures too, as i have seizures....but the ONLY thing that helps is the ZOMIG nazal spray or dissolve under the tongue tablet

You DO have a litte bit of a side effect of a nose drip, like runny nose for about 15 minutes...but HEY anything beats a 3 day MIGRAINE!!! with throwing up!!

AND the dr will give you samples is you ask! i cant afford them..they are high! so just ASK FOR SAMPLES!!!!

I too am a migraine sufferer and my doctor gave me Maxalt it has helped me alot. Also, taking a warm bath and sipping some green tea helps.
Some of the preventive medications they use these days of too many side affects, I have tried many different ones and they make me feel tired and not good most days.
Just talk to your doctor about side affects and ask about taking Maxalt.
Good luck and know that you are not alone.

I agree, a stuffed animal is a great gift. I would get a nice soft kitty. All the little girls in my life are crazy for cats! Candy is not good for cancer patients, sugar should be avoided. Books about princesses is another big hit. You could also find little girl nail polish and lip gloss, this would definitely get you the "Best Aunt" award! I will pray for her full recovery.

Definetely go to a Neurologist. If anything, at least it will assure you that nothing horrible is wrong and give you peace of mind. I have tried a ton of medicine and I prefer Relpax with another medicine called Metaclopramide. The latter works to calm your stomach so you do not vomit and feel nautious.
