Is the religious right that narrow minded that their religion is the only religion? Aren't these so called good Christians just being proved over and over again as hypocrites?

Oh, come on. EVERYONE votes for the candidate they think most closely shares their values. If you're a Christian, you look for someone whose political views are (hopefully) informed by his religious ethic. Which does NOT mean that you necessarily vote for the so-called 'Christian right'.

The whole right/left wing thing is a VAST oversimplification of political views in any case, more confusing than illuminating. It started during the French revolution and was outdated before the Republic was firmly established. You need at least a 3-D matrix to describe how people's worldviews and politics actually shape up. The only person I know who's even made an effort to accurately describe political subgroups is Jerry Pournelle, a mathematician and SF writer.

Some people feel that having female genitalia is a good enough reason to be qualified for President.

I disagree to both. I want to see the person's voting record, know that they are qualified, experienced, and able to do the job, and I want a strong leader who agrees with my basic political views and shares my vision for the direction that our country should go in.

I really don't care what the candidate's personal views are on religion. Or what gender or race they are.

Yeah, pretty much.

If someone was running who had the PERFECT plan to end the Iraq war peacefully, balance the budget, give us all free health care while keeping the system just the way it is now (privatized and whatnot), guarantee social security for everyone whether they apply for it next year or in fifty years, end the mortgage crisis, and a million other things he would absolutely not be elected if he also admitted to be an atheist... no question.

And that's a shame. All people seem to care about is making abortions impossible unless you go to a back alley and discriminating against gay people.

I believe a person is a hypocrite when they talk about love and tolerance and then vote for a person who supports the NRA, supports the elimination of social programs that help the less fortunate and believes in the death penalty all the while spouting off about Jesus. Jesus would have never voted for such a person. If this is who a Christian chooses to vote for then they are a hypocrite as I would be if I voted for such a person. Look where 'religious voting' got us with Bush. That says it all right there.

I talk about Jesus daily. I get free food and fast women. Talkin' Jesus has made my dreams come true. Did you know talkin' Jesus releases pheramones that attract the opposite sex? And it also makes you rich, and powerful, and in some cases, talkin' Jesus lets some play with a country like a Barbie's dream doll house

It doesn't matter what they talk about. Doesn't matter who is elected, or who is not. Makes no difference if a republician wins, a democrat, an independent, or whoever else. The system of government is corrupt. No true Christian would even attempt to fix it, because true Christians know it can't be fixed. It can only be replaced with a new government--God's government! "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth, as it is in heaven." Concentrate, my friend.

Hello. Our country was founded on religion. To me it seems like the canidates know that many Americans are Christians and they use that to their advantage. Win by any means possible. The same way they lie about healthcare, lower taxes etc. It's all a game.

What it proves is the ever popularity of the politically correct prejudism and hatred of traditionalists, christians and conservatives. Anything goes, and tolerate anything, except conservatives and christians.
- Whether one explains his faith, or doesn't really makes no difference, either approach will be villified, over and over and over.. and pounded into the heads of the citizens til all hate christians and all freedom of speech for them is stifled and everyone thinks alike, no different voices, or opinions being allowed.

Yes and that's a sad state of affairs when the president is chosen on a religious issue instead of how he/she can make this country better.
