My company just issued an invitation for our holiday luncheon, and the restaurant has an "upscale casual" dresscode. Any suggestions?

It means no ball gowns or tuxedos, but no jeans, tennis shoes or hoodies either.

Men: slacks, nice shirt, tie is optional, jacket not required, dress shoes and a belt with shirt tucked in

Ladies: cocktail dress (semi-formal) or pants suit, dress, or nice top and slacks. Heels or dress flats.

That is basically like business casual in the office. Slacks/skirt and a nice shirt.

What's with all this " upscale " crap ? That means more expensive than it's worth. UPSCALE restaurant = a 37.00 plate of pasta you get at a diner for 7.99, with the same jar sauce. WOOHOO !!!!
