That slaves are great and women aren't real people. Oh - and you can kill your kids if they don't listen to you.

The Bible's ethics lessons can be found elsewhere, yes. Jesus did not teach anything ethically that isn't taught in other religions as well. However, there are two things of note:

(1) While they can be found elsewhere they still must be found somewhere. While I believe Christianity is the best and most accessible source, rather than trying, say Buddhism proper, you might try reading Wayne Dyer, Thich Naht Hanh, and Henri Nouwen.

(2) The unique teaching of the Bible is its changing and growing ideas about God and Jesus and what is beyond the natural and how it relates to said ethics. These life lessons do not exist independent of our spirutual energy, they express it and change it in a feedback relationship. In the end, an ethic cut off from spirit remains disconnected from our truest selves.

no longer all church homes are properly sufficient off to have a large parsonage. My cousin lives in a modest, geared up-on domicile in a small barren area city. The carpet is so wiped out which you should be careful to no longer trip over the ripped up areas and the A/C so unreliable that the fuse switches get thrown a minimum of thrice a week. the little ones are familiar with donated clothing and the automobiles are somewhat stored working at situations. My cousin's spouse has section time jobs cleansing homes and as a instructor's aide. they're most of the toughest workers i've got ever considered. no longer all have been blinded by using money and/or potential. in keeping with probability it's time to locate yet another church?

hi! it teaches us where death came from, that life isn't the anomaly, death is! If there be God, he is of course Life itself, the life force and source, the great spirit and spark of Life, and also is Perfection.. When thinking ability was endowed (to angel and man) a whole new world (or tree) of possibilities 'came to be'. Now the thing is once you choose something other than what God/Perfection chooses, you become imperfect. You begin to move away from Perfection/God/Life. Hence, the bible tells us, the sending of the Son, to check that journey away from life, was built right into everything "from the foundation of the world" / aka, from the 'beginning'. So, God chose to give the ability to think (and thus choose) and he built into it all the solution to everyone's bound to wander off... "God is the savior of ALL men" (male and female of course!). That's 1 tim 4:10. "ALL things in heaven and earth are being gathered" back "into Him" Colossians 1:20.
- Here's something most bible readers don't pick up on.. well two things actually, [1] "hell" is a mistranslation which should read "the grave". And [2] everyone makes a big deal of God saying at the 'end' (after "judgment day") "those not believing will go to the 2nd death" - well what everyone seems to miss is that no one hears that until aFter they have experienced [1] being resurrected from "the grave" and [2] having lived through and witnessed a very (very) long day of the examination of all things and all human history, as to just what went wrong, etc. (by my studied estimation a "judgment day" lasting 500 years!) - Now, who after all that, isn't going to "believe"? [However the 1st resurrection (of believer's is a lot happier than the 2nd resurrection of all non believers 1000 years later. Perhaps it will take 1000 years for the believers to 'get it together' enough to help in the guidance of the rest after the 2nd resurrection... Oh! (Almost forgot.) What this life is, per the bible is a learning of "good from evil". Unavoidable (I'm thinking) if there is to be human and angelic rationality that is..
: )
- P.S. - so many (many) folks love to quote God's angry responses without including the reason for the anger, which was child sacrifice, yes, child sacrifice.. they actually beat loud drums to drown out the sound of the babes and childrens' screams of anguish and suffering. Was God angry? Well what god worth his salt wouldn't be? Most folks who hate God also hate (yes hate, it would seem) traditionalists and conservatives (who seek to conserve society rather than "progress" society to where ever it is we are rushing to progress it to, over these last 50 years or so.)

There are many answers to your question. For the complete answer you would have to read the Bible and as you read it, meditate on what it means to you. How does it apply in your life? There are principles found in the Bible that are not just evident at first glance.

For one instance let's take the scripture that tells "a man to love his wife as he does his own body." (Eph 5:33) That teaches a principle that if this man loves himself and wouldn't hurt himself, then he would not hurt his wife either. If this man feeds himself and provides shelter for himself, then he will also do that for his wife.

That is only one principle, there are many, many more to be found. All of those are life lessons for us.

It shows why we owe our loyalty and worship to Jehovah God. How His actions always end with His plans successfully completed. Along with that, His plans for the earth.

What is the purpose of humankind? Why are we here? Along with most of the questions we have about life. What is the future for both humans and the planet?

How can we have the best life now and in the future?

Only the Bible can reliably answer these questions.

The bible teaches you that if you are invisible and decide to build a universe, and do a 6 day rush job of it, and it goes sour, then it's ok to make a big flood and drown all the men, women, children, babies, animals, plants and essentially flush them all down the toilet, except Noah..

That God is on your side when you like to get rid of your enemies! Bush knows this very well!!

Hosea 9:14-16 (NIV) (the prophet is improvising a prayer to the LORD!!!...) Give them, O LORD— what will you give them? Give them wombs that miscarry and breasts that are dry. (And God rushes to answer him on the spot!!!) "Because of all their wickedness in Gilgal, I hated them there. Because of their sinful deeds, I will drive them out of my house. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are rebellious. Ephraim is blighted, their root is withered, they yield no fruit. EVEN IF THEY BEAR CHILDREN, I WILL SLAY THEIR CHERISHED OFFSPRING."

God always answers our prayer even before we open our eyes, if we ask him “according to his will”…!

Jeremiah 16:3-4 (NIV) For this is what the LORD says about the sons and daughters* (*babies) born in this land and about the women who are their mothers and the men who are their fathers: "They will die of deadly diseases. They will not be mourned or buried but will be like refuse lying on the ground. They will perish by sword and famine, and their dead bodies will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth."

May God’s LOVING sadistic pleasure endure for ever and ever…! and all of God’s people say, “AMEN!!! and AMEN!!!” Any Christian of a sadistic orientation will find a real Paradise in Heaven. The rest will just rejoice in the LORD… whatever they think that is!

Too numerous to mention, actually. The bible has a verse that says scripture contains all things necessary for godliness and salvation. That encompasses quite alot.
