Very frustrating! My son will not use the toilet! I tell him to go as soon as he gets up in the morning but he just stands there and goes in his pull-up. Please help. I have tried taking away treats and events but no luck. Growing very impatient

I believe that he is just very stubborn, sometimes he just cries and falls out when i tell him to go. He is very lazy.

What i heard works is to put Cheerios in the toilet, and tell him it's a game and if he can sink the Cheerios, he can have a prize. That way it makes it more of a game, then a "have-to".

Why isn't he using the toilet? Is he acting scared, disinterested, lazy or just defiant?

You can try a couple of these things:

-Try sitting him on the toilet first thing in the morning & every hour after that untill he starts going in it. It will eventually just become habit.

- It's kinda messy & gross. But, you can try putting him in cloth diapers or nothing at all (this works better in the summer LOL) and let him pee on himself. Most kids don't like it & will eventually start running for the toilet.

You kinda have to judge for yourself why he isn't going. If he's scared- make sure to reassure him. Just keep trying & try to hold onto your patience. Some kids just tak longer than others.

Good-luck!

Why are you taking things away?

This is the only thing in his life he has (and always will have) total control over. There is nothing you can do to force him.

Put him in underwear and reward him for positive tries. Do not punish or take away anything. Get him out of pull ups except for bedtime.

Stop making this harder for him. Be patient, and remember some day someone will have to change your diaper again.

just get rid of the pullups and be prepared to clean up some messes for a little while. he will get it, take a deep breath and be as patient as you can. getting mad is not going to help him get it faster. boys are sometimes a little slow. ;-)

you need him to run around more to make him be able to use the bathroom or he may not know that he needs to
