I'm touching keyboards, dodgeballs, pencils, doorknobs, (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!) desks, chairs, books, and other random things. I am a super germ freak, and even when nothing is going around I still freak out about opening a door.

Keep antibacterial with you, possibily even those wipes so that you can wipe down keyboards and desks... dont share pencils i guess considering some people chew on them... dont share utensils or drinks either... anything anyone could have coughed on or somehow their saliva touched would be something to clean off or avoid... lysol wipes and antibacterials will kill the strep bacteria... if you are worried for your own health .. keeping up your vitamin c intake is always good as well..

I carry those antibacterial wipes around to wipe keyboards, phones, and things I can control. However, the best advice is to wash you hands frequently in warm, soapy water. I'm a germ freak, too
And after you leave a bathroom or someplace that you have to touch a doorknob, use a paper towel than discard it afterwards.
If no paper towels are available use a shirt sleeve or wear gloves and wash those frequently.

Since you're in school and don't have time to be washing your hands every twelve seconds, carry around a little bottle of antibacterial handwash. Companies that make handsoap also make little bottles of this stuff, and if you're feeling extra fancy you can stop by Bath and Body Works and get one of their froo-froo smelling ones. It's not a guarantee, but it'll make you feel better about touching things other people have been touching.

And you know the other stuff--don't share drinks, food, etc. Step throat is HIGHLY contageous-- and it hurts like nobody's business. If you do get it, however, a treatment of antibiotics (considering it's bacterially based) will get rid of it in about a week. So don't freak.

Wash hands, keep hands away from face, don't kiss anyone, don't share drinks, etc.

Also use a hand sanitizer, like Purell.
