I been on over dozens of medications in the past but when I was 16 I took Prozac, it made me start cutting then I tried to kill myself but I was younger and now Im 21. Since I started taking it again- 20mg which will slowly be raised to 80mg I notice I have strange homicidal dreams but no dreams about suicide. The doctor said to continue taking it and give it time to work. Im taking it for bulimia. My appetite has also chilled down a little but I dont know if its from the prozac or just my strict will power that I often have to starve myself. The doctor prescribed it and said its suppoasto help with the binging/ purging so thats the only reason why Im taking it now. Has anybody taken it? I notice I am able to sleep at night and piss alot. What experiences did you have with it and did it work for your depression and anxiety? Did it make you gain/lose weight? Did the binging stop? Can I continue taking my diet pills and diuretics? Im addicted, I know its bad It will end hopefully 1 day.

You need some psychiatric help there my friend...not pumping yourself full of drugs...find out what your problems are, instead of medicating them!!!!!!!!!!

When I took Prozac (for about 8 months), yes it did help my depression. It also numbed me out considerably and at times I felt separated from my body. Because it caused some nausea for the first several weeks and because I was using food for emotional reasons - I did loose weight. Not everyone is the same. You have only begun this medication. They say it takes 2-4 weeks to feel the full benefits. However, if you have negative side effects too disturbing to bear, go back to your Dr. and say it LOUDLY so he gets it loud and clear. Also, you should be drinking lots of water with this, and moving, going for walks in the fresh air, swim and do yoga to integrate your mind with your body. NOT extreme exercise, but gentle mild exercise.
Please stop the diuretics and diet pills or you will truly mess up your system. Give this a chance. Don't sabatoge a possible positive outcome. All the best to you.

I have taken Celexa for 2 years lost loads of weight am now under weight and can't put it back on so yes! It's a common side effect the doc tells me (weight loss or gain) probably more to do with my anxiety tho, I reckon! E-mail me if you wanna chat about that particular drug. I take 40Mg's a day. Prozac should be taken in the mornings not at night. The side effects in the first fortnight can give you insomnia as well but they soon pass. Else i would talk to your doc maybe it's not the best SSRI for you! Try Celexa maybe. I take them and said it was like taking speed at first, but after a month that had totally past! I have heard a lot of people sat they have gained weight on prozac.

Similar to a previous answer, I took Prozac for some time, and I also felt the urge to jump in front of a moving bus. I did some research at the time and heard that many people had done things like throwing themselves from windows etc. Needless to say, I stopped taking it.

There are a myriad of OCD medications out there, and Prozac is kind of "old school" compared to some of the newer ones.

Print out what you typed and give it to your doctor. If your doctor is not a psychiatrist, find a real psychiatrist. They can better stabilize you on meds, and help you w/ yoru bulimia all around. You shouldn't be starving yourself, no matter what.

I've been on prozac for a couple years, and it has not caused me to have horrible dreams. It doesn't make me gain or lose weight to my knowledge.

As for the bulimia, you can't rely only on meds to fix it. Have you gone to an in-patient treatment program? It's probably your best bet.

i tried it once but it caused me to want to run head on into a on coming auto i stopped the meds and will never take them again, no i did not run into the auto but the Strong urge to do so, i had enough mind to control it, doctors are their to give you meds not to control the side effects of the drugs, read about those side effects before taking any meds.
