When society finally wakes up from it's religious sleep, how do we take care of the mentally ill that believed it all? With social security possibly going away, do we let the government pay for their treatment, or use the money stolen from the poor?

Just let them all commit suicide. We'll be better off as a society that way.

Religion alone should not be justification for bodily mutilation, however, the reason that circumcision is practised by Jews and Muslims is for pratical, as opposed to purely religious reasons. When sand gets under the foreskin, it acts as an abrasive and causes sores and the like under it. The penis becomes enflamed and cannot work in its normal fashion. By removing the foreskin, this problem is eliminated. Religion encoded a health precaution to make sure people took on the good habit. So, rather than pleasing God by removing thef oreskin at birth, it was more of a practical measure, made sacred to ensure its practice. However, once the underlying reason for that mutilation to occur has gone, I do not think it is reasonable to go on with the practice for the sake of religious tradition.

Medical insurance should cover mental illness adequately, religion or not! Most insurance companies will pay for no more than 10 days of hospitalization, whether that's appropriate care for the person or not. That's why we have so many walking wounded out there. And I don't believe religion causes mental illness, although it can make it worse.

With all due respect, they'll never stop believing so this is not a valid questionand you are intelligent enough to know that. Why is this important to you? Will you be needing these services, or are you attempting to attack those who have something to look forward to when this madness we call life on earth ends? All I know is that this life is crazy and none of us really knows all the answers to why we are here so some choose to believe in whatever helps them to function. Find your purpose and forget about them unless they attack you. Then call on me, tell me what they say and do and I will give them something so true that even you will believe thereafter.

Peace....

When the man of God is gone, you will have chaos. You don't want to live in a world without God.

Wow! A lot of assumed truths there!

There will be LESS mental problems, religion is the cause of a lot of it.

You see nut cases all the time screaming about God.

Most insurance plans have mental health benefits anyway. Those who are depressed when they learn they were wrong can certainly seek counseling.
