Smelly dog, smelly dog....what are they feeding yoooooou! (sorry, couldnt resist!)
Anyway, can the liver treats I give my dog be causing him to smell?? his crate stinks and even when i bathe him, after a day or a night in the crate he is back to funking up the whole apt! I cant bathe him everyday, and the scent sprays just mask odors. My boyfriend SWEARS its the treats cause he hates the smell of them out of the package. But Caesar loves em! Should I find treats that are not liver based on the smell?

I don't believe that it's only the treats. What are you feeding him? How old is the dog? Could he have an ear infection, or the beginnings of peridontal disease?
The crate itself should not stink. Plastic retains odors unless cleaned properly - try using white vinegar and baking soda to scrub out the crate. But really your first move should be a vet checkup to see about the ears and dental thing.
Dog food that's made with corn and animal byproducts is a major source of problems for many dogs. There are a lot of choices out there - check this site to find them:

There are some breeds of dogs who naturally smell more than others. Where I work my boss has an American Hairless Terrier. That is the stinkiest dog I have ever been around. You give him a bath, and the next day he is alreadys stinking. I do not know if it is what he eats or not. They pay $30 for one medium size bag of special food for him. If you pet him or he gets against your clothes, it smells like stinky feet. Our dog gets a bath once a week, and she doesn't stink. Our friends have a Poodle and a Chihuahua. The Chihuahua stinks like mice.lol The poodle doesn't have near the smell the other dog has.. Mom and dad had a Pekinese, and that dog stunk within 3 hours of bathtime.

Well about the crate stinking Get some Febreze to spray every other day also get some dryer sheets and stick them under the crate or anywhere near it that should freshen up alil there. other than that call your vet they might suggest using something different for treats or shampoo. Or you might want to brush your dogs teeth. Any how Good luck!

I recently heard that dogs that smell aren't eating the right food. I suggest changing foods to a more premium brand if you are feeding the puppy the el cheapo stuff. Also, after bathing him try to dry him as best you can before putting him into the crate.

Yes it is the treats.. food make a dog smell bad or much more better.... you might gives you dog apple as treats... they love it, as it is sweets and it is good for their health! He won't smell bad. You can change as well with banana. Fruits that are not acidic are good, but most of them such as banana and apple are the best.
But if your boyfriend don't like the smell of your dog.. change your boyfriend...(;-)) no I'm jocking!) dogs always smell... it is normal. It is like humans, some smell more than other!

I don't think some small treats can make a dog stink. My puppy smelled for the longest time. I started bathing her too much. As she got older she stopped smelling. I think it takes time for puppies to get their natural oils and smell. I really think puppies just stink until the outgrow the stink stage. If you bathe too much you'll cause him to get dry skin. There is a spray that I use between baths. You spray it on your dog and towel dry it off. Makes my pup smell great!

It could be the treats. I don't give my dog liver at all. But if you put something in there, it will affect them. Look at people that eat a lot of garlic, it comes out thru their skin. Get away from the liver treats, and I'll bet you get away from that stink.

It's very possible that it is the food that's causing him to smell: My parents' beagle used th have an AWFUL aroma when they were feeding him gravy train- but that has faded considerably since they switched to another food.
Also, you might want to take him for a check-up to make sure he has no problems with his teeth or with parasites.
Good luck!

Maybe change the "crate"?
Also, if you are living in an Apartment, why are you wasting your money on a dog, treats, and food instead of saving to buy a house?
That mentality will make you a rental slave your entire life, you will leave this world with as much as you have now.

Probably his diet. Caesar may love those treats, but if you take them away he will eventually eat whatever you give him.
