My daughter will be 3 in March. She has been vaccinated, and there are only 5 bumps, with 2 of then with a white head. No fever, and seems to hav emore energy then ever!! I just can't beleive this, I noticed the bumps and it mabye crossed my mind, but I thought just a bug bite, cause she won't sleep with her pajamas on, just a pull up. I don't know why?!? So i thought she got bit in the night or something. Well her daycare suggested she had chicken pox and I take her to the Dr. (urgent care) and he said yes!! I started crying, I feel awful for having noticed the bumps and even questioning it and then taking her to daycare and now exposing all of whom havent had it yet!!!! How many of your children have had chicken pox with the vaccination, or could this be something else?

ok this makes me feel better, and yes i BELIEVE IN CHILDREN GETTING VACCINATIONS, i think the reason they are wanting to vaccinate people and keep them from getting it, is to mabye extinct the illness eventually, and yes you can die from it, just like you can die from the flu. this family is all up on their vaccinations. my husband and i both deal with clients and appts and our family is 5 hours away, the dr. suggested we keep her home for A WEEK!!! for 5 bumps, which i completely understand, but lord jus think if she was covered from head to toe. haha. yeah she could have gotten it alot worse without the vaccine.

Sometimes children with the vaccination will get a VERY mild case of the disease such as chicken pox. Most likely she got it from day care so the kids there were probably already exposed anyway.

My daughter's only 7 weeks, so I'm not at this point yet. I have no intention of having her vaccinated against chicken pox though. I don't understand why they've started. Having chicken pox when you're young protects you from shingles when you're older. Though chicken pox is uncomfortable, it's far from a life threatening illness. I'm only in my early 20s, and I remember that everyone always got it when I was younger. But it lasted just a few days, sometimes a week, and then everything was okay. We just soaked ourselves in calamine lotions and tried not to scratch ourselves silly.

I think vaccinations are out of hand.... Especially considering your child was able to catch chicken pox WHILE being vaccinated.

As for bringing it into the daycare... it's highly likely that is where she got it from to begin with. If others come up with chicken pox, I wouldn't feel bad. Its more an inconvience than anything else.

EDIT: Thanks for the person who pointed out my shingles mistake. When I was younger, my grandfather got a horrible case of shingles. I remember my parents saying it was because he never had the chicken pox. I misunderstood how the connection worked.

first of all your daughter would have been at the contagious stage before the bumps appeared so even if you took her to daycare its more than likely that if anyone was going to catch it from her they would have done so then. Stop feeling guilty. my 3 year old had three bumps in total and at the same time my 5 year old was covered from head to toe and had them in her ears, nose, mouth, throat and even her private parts. Apart from having to get cream from the doc for inside her mouth and throat so she could try and eat she was fine. no temperature and full of energy also. Its better they have it when they are kids as it can cause problems when they are adults. With your daughter only having a little amount shes more likely to catch it again where as if shed been totally covered its not very likely. ( thats what my doc reckons anyway).

So stop worrying and beating yourself up about it, at least youll know what it looks like if she does get it again.

It is very possible to get chicken pox even after the vaccine it is going to be a very mild case. My son was only 5 months when he got chicken pox so he was not even old enough to get the vaccine yet.

bummer. if the doctor knew she had been vaccinated and still said it was chicken pox, it probably is. no vaccine is 100% effective and it sounds like it didn't work on your daughter.

don't panic, though. she'll probably be totally fine, and it was totally reasonable of you to have assumed it was something else since she had been vaccinated. (plus most of the other kids were probably vaccinated too, so she probably won't spread it). if my kid was one of the other daycare kids in that situation and ended up getting chicken pox, i totally wouldn't blame you.

hope she's better soon.

Personally I think the chicken pox vaccine is not a good thing! Chicken pox arent all that bad if you have them as a kid, just get it over with. My mom had them when myself and both my sisters had them and she was so sick! She even has scars on her lungs from it. What happens if a child grows up and misses a vaccine and gets it as an adult?

Someone commented that having chicken pox prevents shingles later in life, not true. Shingles is a form of chicken pox, it lays dorment in you nerves with in the spine. shingles is more common in the elderly and contagious. if you have never had chicken pox you need to stay away from someone with shingles because then you may get active chicken pox which can be dangerous the older you are. And you can only get chicken pox once. shingles you can get more than once
