It helps.

Before the Internet, you could have pockets of extreme racism, bigotry, intolerance, and so on, just because of the isolation of people, the lack of any dissenting voice, and just plain ignorance.

With the Internet, it is very hard to put an idea out there without it being challenged. They say that the number one key to keep a marriage together is communication. I think that holds true of society, as well. The reason there is a shift in ideology all over the world is because the whole world is becoming connected and exposed to the ideas of other people.

Yahoo Answers plays a small, but important, part of this.

just like ignorance breeds itself the internet preys on that...many people on here are not good people, they have other motives like hurting kids anything they can put out to make children doubt themselves they will...it is called grooming...it is Pedophile 101...I see them use it all the time...many are in this "religious section" to try and incite, or hurt or harm and spread false truths....pretty much because they are miserable....they hope to make others that way...just like the woman on myspace who harassed that girl who killed herself....somewhere I believe Karma will snap their heads off their shoulders...
