A friend of mine has a teenaged daughter. My friend's boyfriend wanted to propose, so he bought a ring for the daughter, too, and basically invited them both into a new life with him. It was very sweet. The mom's ring was a big sparkly diamond, and the daughter's was a small fashion ring-type diamond. Good luck, and congrats!!!

Depends on what kind of girl she is.. My idea is simple but its the kind of proposal I would like. One evening you make dinner and have champagne ready when she arrives home. The Christmas tree is all decorated and lit up with the lights turned off in the living room. You say lets just relax by the tree before dinner and bring the champage. And tell her there is a present under there you want her to open...

Aww!

Well, there are many 'right' ways to propose, from the romantic going to one knee and presenting the ring to perhaps a bit of humor. When my husband proposed to me, he also presented me with a half-dozen roses. We've been married 10 years now, and still act like we're on our honeymoon.

Congratulations, and good luck!

I think it sounds like the PERFECT Christmas present...

If you don't already make up stockings for each other, suggest that this year you do. Tell her you think it would be fun to be each other's "Santa". Then later (another day) act like you're trying to be subtle and ask her if there are any little things she needs... (she'll think you're having a hard time filling the stocking). Say something like, "do you need any stuff for your nails or anything?" ... another time ask her something else... like, "what would you think of an electric toothbrush" while she's brushing her teeth.... just anything to make her think you're REALLY working on this stocking thing but let her think you're trying to be really subtle about it.

Then, do fill the stocking, with decent stuff, mostly useful. Kitchen gadgets, new pair of socks or gloves, maybe some high quality nail clippers, a couple corny declarations of your love, like a heart shaped lip gloss or a heart shaped chocolate... but the key is to put the ring box in the stocking FIRST and remember what you put in second (gloves or socks would be good). have something cute like a teddy bear sticking out the top :)

Then when she's going through her stocking act like you're really proud of yourself for all the things you got her... a lot of, "isn't that neat?" or "those are the best ones they make!" or whatever.

when she pulls out the socks, know it's time to get ready. then when she pulls out the ring box, as she's opening it, get on your knee in front of her....

OH, another idea is instead of socks or gloves, you could get her some fuzzy slipper socks. Tell her 15-year-old your plan and get her to help you when she takes the slipper socks out - you guys should like REALLY convice her to put them on. Then you can say, I'll help and get in front of her to put them on - then you're already on one knee!!!

Or if you don't like the stocking idea you could buy her a pair of very nice slippers and put the ring in the toe of one. When she opens them, get down to help her put them on... put on the empty one first, then the one with the ring (or ring box!) in it - she'll say, wait, there's something in there and take it off and reach in and as she sees the ring ask her to marry you!

either way, a good plan is to get the 15-year-old to help you set it all up - she'll be a part of the whole thing and excited to be in on the planning and the secret :)

That's just wonderful! No matter what you do, congrats!

Write her a note telling her how you feel for her. Wrap the note and put it under the Christmas tree. Christmas morning (or whenever you open gifts), let her open her presents, and as she's reading the note, get down on one knee.

Good luck and congrats! :o)

I say just do it when your comfortable, it doesn't have to be in front of anyone, if it is, do it at dinner or right after dinner...

if not, just do it in the morning...bring her breakfast in bed and have the ring in the box as a main course..on a bare plate
then have her real breakfast waiting
CONGRATS and good luck!

I think it would be great to have everyone involved in the process to show unity with the family. Make it a surprise when you can all be together

On one knee!

Where and when should be personal to your relationship. Don't worry about it though. Say what's in your heart and she's sure to love it.
