If you catch a cold, you can expect to be sick for about a week. But that doesn't mean you have to be miserable. These remedies may help:

Water and other fluids. You can't flush a cold out of your system, but drinking plenty of liquids can help. Water, juice, clear broth or warm lemon water with honey helps loosen congestion and prevents dehydration. Avoid alcohol, coffee and caffeinated sodas, which make dehydration worse.
Salt water. A saltwater gargle — 1/2 teaspoon salt in an 8-ounce glass of warm water — can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat.
Saline nasal sprays. Over-the-counter saline nasal sprays combat stuffiness and congestion. Unlike nasal decongestants, saline sprays don't lead to a rebound effect — a worsening of symptoms when the medication is discontinued — and most are safe and nonirritating.
Stay warm, and rested, and try to stay away from others so you don't pass it on.
GET WELL SOON!x

The best cure is lots of sleep, orange juice and hot chicken soup. If you just want to relieve the symptoms, the best thing I found is Advil cold and sinus. I hate taking medications, but I worked as a waitress and couldn't be coughing, sneezing or generally looking/acting sick. Worked like a charm and I never missed any work.
Hope this helps.

Either you have a cold or the flu, which is it?

Rest, drink plenty of water, take zinc, Vitamin C and if the cough gets worse, see the doctor.

DON'T GO TO WORK AND MAKE OTHERS SICK!

Complete Bed Rest, eat much fruits especially rich in Vitamins C and drink lot of water. Cold are cough is a manifestation that you have infection. Since there is an infection it is expected that our immune system is low so we need to charge it by complete bed rest and eating fruits rich in vit.c
