My cousin is getting married in early January and I am unable to attend. I mailed back the RSVP indicating why we are unable to attend. When should I mail the couple a wedding card with money? Do I send it before the wedding or after?

Thanks!

if you cant go you arent obligated to send a present so its thoughtful that you are doing so. You mail presents to the bride's house prior to the wedding. I would never send cash in the mail and remember if you are sending a check they cant cash it as husband and wife until after the ceremony and when they have a bank account set up. I would address it to both of them as their names appear prior to the ceremony.

Though it isn't required, I still think it's a nice thing to do. Send a card around the time of the wedding with a little note of encouragement for them.

if you already know you are unable to attend ..I would think you could mail the gift as soon as you want...after all maybe they could use the money to help with the wedding and that would make your gift even more special!
If I was the bride and someone i sent an invitation to knew early that they could not attend a gift from them would be really great...even if it is weeks before the wedding! Any gift is better than "NO GIFT" and believe me I got lots of those....(no gift)...Just because a person cannot attent does not really exempt them from sending a gift!
It also gives the bride and groom one less thing to worry about as far as the ctering and things that they need a count goes for !

Usually you'll want to do it before the wedding. I know most of mine came within a month of the wedding, but most came within the two weeks right before. I hope that helps.

Before the wedding. It's always nice for them to have the extra money for their honeymoon or just at the start of their new life together.

Send your gift anytime before the wedding, preferably at least a month before so it doesn't get caught in the rush of wedding preparations the week of.

I agree with the folks that say anytime before the wedding; and whether you attend or don't attend you are NEVER OBLIGATED to buy a gift

You can send it anytime. My preference is to send things right away... I am forgetful and like to do things asap before I forget. Besides if you give it to them ahead of time perhaps they can use it as a little extra fun money on their honeymoon.

either before or after is fine, just make sure you are sending it to an address that is still current since a lot of people move right before or right after the wedding
