Start at the wide end of the ham, where it has been cut, and cut slices off that end.

Depending upon the ham you have, shank end has only one bone near the center so it's easy to get nice beautiful big slices. A butt end ham is a little more difficult to get a nice big slices since it has the hip bone which is an odd shape.

However, your ham should already have a cut (at the wide end of the ham) just use that cut as a guide.

You need to let it stand for at least 30 minutes after cooking. Make sure your knife is long and sharp. Use a carving fork to hold the ham and slice 1/4 inch slices, let them fall in place so after you have carved the whole ham you can gather the ham back keeping the original shape to transfer to a platter.
