Anyone is welcome to answer! The more the merrier.

But my question is, what are the religious grounds that stem cell research is bad? I mean, this research can save millions of people. By denying it, aren't you essentially killing people? Think of babies and adults alike you could save! What is so bad about using the umbilical cord blood. I mean, it's just thrown out anyway to be turned to dust.

Even if the fetus -was- aborted, why would it matter? One life taken to give another a chance. An aborted fetus' blood is just as usable as a child's that was born, right? I don't believe in abortion for the wrong reasons (purely birth control), but I don't see how that makes the cells tainted.

The point still stands:

Whether it comes from a fetus or an umbilical cord, why does it matter? Both are going to be burned and turned to dust anyway. Why not put them to GOOD USE and SAVE somebody?

my biggest gripe?... the fools that are standing in the way of it!....

we have had four babies born to our family in the last three years.... three of them saved the cord blood for later use, if necessary..... what's so hard about that?....

cord blood and cord tissue is WASTED now.... what's wrong with SAVING IT???.....

the only thing about Stem Cells I'm against is when, and it's a long stretch to believe anyone in their right mind would do this, but when a child is concieved ONLY to PROVIDE stem cells for some moneybags......

of course, there's a story out there of someone having a second child hoping that the first child could benefit from a kidney transplant between the two..... sigh....

as long as this country lags behind in the research, we'll be the ones dying , while other countries will have folks that live on and prosper, even after having had the same diseases and problems.... it'll be time to travel overseas for some of us.....

Umbilical Cord Blood, or Fetal Tissue, which is Human Tissue since we are Humans from the time of conception.

Fetal stem cells have never benefited anyone, but the media does not want anyone to know that. Stem cells from adults have benefited people, and those adults are not sacrificed for stem cell harvesting like unborn children are.

The issue is not stem cells, but where to get them from: unborn babies which means they never get born, or adults who are not killed for cells?

The only problem I have with stem cell research is that there are so many idiots who oppose it because of fictitious brain-washed made-up reasons.

You know what's the biggest hypocrisy? If those said idiots fell ill from a horrible disease, and a stem cell cure would be their only hope for survival, they would BEG for it!!!

I am all for stem cell research. However, I am not for the use of stem cells from fetuses because I believe that is morally wrong. This new discovery that stem cells can be created from adult cells is much more promising for me and does not tread in murky ethical waters.

I'm a Christian but don't have any problems with it... as long as the mother of the fetus wasn't someone who had a little accident during highschool where the guy forgot to bring his rubber. Your decision, your responsibility.
