I always get her perfumes/bath and body stuff and I want to get something else. Something unique or creative maybe? I'm on a college student budget...up to $40-ish dollars maybe. Any good ideas?

You told us about you. You said nothing about your mother. Does she read a lot? How about a book or two. Does she like old movies? Get her one of the Criterion editions of a classic film. You could get a nice bouquet of flowers for under $40, or perhaps a plant. Does she do art work. Get her some new paints, etc. Good luck.

No-one knows you mum better than you. You seem to be taking the easy way out with presents. Don't feel bad, we are all guilty of that. Really give your mum some thought, write a list of all the items she would like. Not stuff suitable for all mums, your mum. She is unique in her own way, if you put in the time you will come up with something that will really make her day.

Get some photos of you and her from when you were a kid and put them in a photo frame for her. I am sure she would love that. You could also take her out for lunch or go get make overs done together. If you don't live together invite her over for a slumber party. Moms always like to spend quality time with their kids.

What kind of things is you mum into?
Ive gotten my mum kitchen ware like a kettle / rice cookers (because of the fact that she runs the kitchen at my house) and because she had been wanting one as well.
Books? CDs, DVDs?
One of the best ones ive given would have to simply be a session of manicures, pedicures, massages & spa treatments. It was a great gift because my mum never did things like that so it was definitely something different and rewarding.

I could make you a jigsaw puzzle from a photo of your choice, Mom or you kids or the dog or any other subject.
All I need is a digital image and you then select the size etc. etc.

Get her a spa certificate, or find out what her favorite store to shop is (which you can do by just looking at her clothes and seeing what the majority is) and get her a pretty wrapped up gift card. That's what we do at my work :)
