they mostly reflect how you cooperated by doing what the teachers said. They also reflect whether your teacher like you. Grades don't mean you can't read, write or think. they don't show whether you can find out how to do something you believe in and then follow through and do it.They don't show the most fundemental aspect of intelligence whether you learn from your experiences and mistakes. they don't show whether you live with courage, compassion, curiosity, or common sense. This is a passage from Grace Llewellyn book "The Teenage Liberation Handbook: How to Quit School and Get a Real Life and Education. Do you agree or disagree? I disagree. What is your take on this passage?

I completely agree with the passage. Grades don't really mean much. If you look at a lot of successful people out there, they were not A or even B students. You need street smarts and common sense to succeed. Intelligence is great, but there are lots of intelligent people who don't get very far in life. In addition, intelligent people don't always get good grades either. Look at Albert Einstein, he flunked math. And by the way, grades are not indicative of intelligence.

Intelligence has nothing to do with education. Some people don't even go to school (and they get no grades!) but they're very intelligent. Some people get good grades because they study hard and repeat by heart, but they're not intelligent. Maybe the teacher himself, who gave those high grades to not-so-intelligent students, is not the most intelligent of teachers! Long story short, i totally agree with the passage.

I believe grades certainly show ones ability to learn in conventional terms...The above statement however is also very much the truth...Truly intelligent people are capable of both: learning trough experience and schooling system...

well you can't quit school and make it anywhere in life. but grades and testing aren't a totally indicator of what you have learned.
