Thanks Kasper, It's nice of you to say that! Unfortunately I think the real truth is that we are no different than any other group. As a general rule most people are nice - but there's always a few individuals who are rude - in any demographic. Per capita you would probably see about the same ratio of good ones to bad ones...

I think you will never get a conclusive answer,atheists will say that there are a few militant types,which is true,many christians will say they don't try to convert(Yes right!) and that they pity you for not having gods faith....so you will never get a general consensus of mutual contentment between the two nor would it do any good whatsoever because they will never accept facts,logic and proof and I will never accept blind faith,illogical proof and a reference book that has more holes in it than the desert has grains of sand...

Im not a atheist either but I kinda agree with you. Theyre usually the ones who are being diserespected because of their beleifs. People are so damnn close-minded in todays world, there will NEVER be peace. People REALLY need to accept ones beleif and realize that not everybody is going to have the same beleifs and ideas as them.

I find lots of atheists being very nasty here especially against christianity ;
Although i am not a christian but I dont like reading some/lots of atheists comments about christianity.
But the worst are (so far) I've seen was nasty words from young christians about muslims.
( I thought christianity is about love, but reading their comments , easy to say that its a religion of hatred ans selfrespect)
The most polite come from the budhists. I dont know why but they seems very carefull, maybe because they are minority in this place, I dont know.
Muslims here, I find try hard to explain their faith, maybe too many attacks against them in this "west" part of the world.

I wouldn't say this is completely true, although there are a lot of nice atheists out there. But I have seen some pretty harsh words from them, without provocation. I think its best to just say there are nice religious people and rude religious people, and there are nice atheists and rude atheists.

Considering we tend to stand on neutral grounds (although most still bear the tendancies to demonise religions associated with terrorism) I'd say, in most cases, yes.
But you're right, we don't act positively to discrimination or prejudice against us. Funnily enough though neither do most people...

I keep waiting for the day when someone knocks on my door and tries to sell me the theory that there is no god. I am agnostic and I totally believe that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.

We are. We will, however, defend our non belief and our science. If you want to believe in something then feel free, but just don't attack my belief or force yours down my throat.
May your God or lack of bless you. Peace.

Most of it is because atheists are not influenced by what a religious figure is telling them what is right and wrong.
No offense to any religious people or beliefs. Just my opinion.
