In the past kids thought their parents were the cats meow. Today with the technology being what it is parents are not the subject matter expert they used to be. Also when I was coming up I never knew what my Mothers name was I always thought it was Mom.

Today kids address their parents by their real names. Finally parents were older when I grew up, and now they are younger. Which means they have more in common, and they can relate on a lot of levels.

Now that I'm a parent I can see why my Mother didn't allow me to call her by her name "Respect" I have it, and I instilled it in my daughter. The kids today lack the basic respect that was a must when I was growing up.....

Kids nowadays have little or no respect for authority even their own parents (not all of them). They even have the nerve to call 911 when a parent is disciplining them. The current system leaves hardly any room for any parent to effectively be a parent to their kids because of all the so-called "violations" on child welfare and the state doesn't even help parents who have really really bad children until its too late. It was better then when kids were really decent and respectful.
