The trouble is, Desiree, that this is the religion section, not the section for the religious.
That means that it is in this section where we discuss religion. Atheism has a view about religion, that many wish to discuss. I understand that some religious people (for example christians) come here to have their faith reinforced by asking questions and getting answers from other christians that support and match the questioner's world view. This is common within all religious communities, it is one of the ways religion perpetuates itself, whether that religion is Christianity, Islam or Satanism. If they are surrounded by people who think the same way, and nod in agreement whenever anyone says anything, they find themselves thinking that everyone thinks the same way, and this must be a sensible and normal way to think.
If they want that, they need to find a forum for religious people. The problem being, they would then seek to exclude Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Satanists, Pagans and everyone who has a different brand of Magicman to them.
You are quite right that atheism is not a religion, but that doesn't mean we have nothing to say about religion. If there are questions in an open, public forum, they must expect answers from all viewpoints, not just their own. I would say that so long as answers are written with honesty and with good intent, they should be grateful that people have taken the time to address their questions.
Is their faith so weak that reading answers by atheists will deprogram them?
Lastly, I nearly reported your question, but decided instead to answer it. Why? Well, because I read around your other questions, and it is clear you don't wish to bar atheists, and you are speaking from the responses you have had from religious people to your other questions But had you been a christian, seeking what your question seems to seek, it is discriminatory. Bigoted. No better than racist. Don't believe me? Read these two questions below, and remember that they are identical to yours, just with different social/racial groups named:
Is the very presence of a christian in the islam section an affront to islam?
A cat amongst the pigeons? A wolf amongst the sheep? A fox amongst the chickens? Take your pick; all these analogies sound very apt to me…can any of you wacky non-christians come up with opposing disparaging analogies? I promise I’ll give 10 points to the most creative non-christian answer.
OR...
Is the very presence of a black in the white section an affront to whites?
A cat amongst the pigeons? A wolf amongst the sheep? A fox amongst the chickens? Take your pick; all these analogies sound very apt to me…can any of you wacky non-blacks come up with opposing disparaging analogies? I promise I’ll give 10 points to the most creative non-black answer.
Doesn't look so witty now does it?
Ask questions, get answers. Don't be a bigot, be grateful. Ignore the ones that you find too challenging. Ask your priest/pastor/imam about how quickly we're going to your non-existent torture camp when we die, if it helps you or scares you back into church/mosque/temple.
But don't be a bigot.
The short answer to your question is yes. They are affronted by our being here. They cannot stand to have their silly beliefs exposed for the twaddle they are. We do that, and our presence reminds them.

This is the religion and spirituality section. Some atheists are spiritual. I am not an atheist. An atheist that is neither spiritual or religious, should show some respect for all the people who have put a lot of honest effort into trying to make the world a better place through religion or spirituality. If they comment on science, without attacking the whole field or a whole religion, that should be okay. Since religion sometimes goes into science in it's beliefs. These comments on science, should be relevant to a religious or spiritual belief and used to inform.

Well perhaps their should be an Atheist section on Yahoo answers, then there will be no cats, wolves, foxs in this section. That me being creative.
I admire your of 'wacky non-atheists',it brought a smile to me.
Black (Christians) and White (Atheists). A white dot amongst a river of black dots easy stands out and like for one Christian with 100 Atheists.

These analogies are completely wrong. They're based on fear and ignorance. No atheist would assume the role you depict (I've known many). They seek only to cause you to think, not to eat you. A scholar among the ignorant?

I hope so. Because the very presence of religion in civilized society is an affront to intelligence and reason.

An annoying troll among people who come here for serious discussion. (not me personally, but if I came here looking for real answers I'd be pretty dissapointed)
