Cats basically do all of this, and more.
They also warm my lap when I am feeling cold.
Give me someone to talk to when I am feeling lonely.
Help reduce my blood pressure when I am feeling stressed.
Bring in the winter air inside the house, nestled in the shiny beautiful coats.
Create a kindred feeling with all the rest of the family and my friends.
Donate their services very early in the morning as my alarm clock.
Make my window sill even more beautiful than it really is.
Help people live longer.
They make my home warmer.
Remind me that life is really mysterious.
Share with me the all-is-well experience of purring.
Most of all they make me smile and feel extremely happy.
I know all of this because I have 4 cats. Inky, Dinky, Pinky & Perky.

Mostly sleep, more as they get older. Mine prowl the house to make sure no enemies have entered their territory, run off with any small thing I leave laying around -- like pens and pencils -- and hide them under the couch (while they laugh in their whiskers). They seek any available lap or lay down in front of you for tummy rubs.
About 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. they jump up and run around like somebody wound up their tails. This only takes about 3 minutes but it seems like forever. (I call it the morning and evening crazies). They also tease the dog.
They munch off and on all day, use the litterbox and then sit by the water bowl (similar to office workers hanging around the water cooler, I think). One likes to play pitty-pat on the water.
Sometimes they're like a bunch of furry delinquents, but mostly they're a lot of fun and I like to think they purr most of the time.

By nature, the cat is an explorer and is constantly on the hunt not always for food, but also to satisfy his quest for the unknown.
Cats rub his head or the side of his chin against peoples leg.
- roll over and expose their stomachs.
- lashes his tail from side to side.
- arch their back.
- sleep so much.
- spend so much time grooming.
- litter
- eat a lot
