I'v been thinking for a while about geting a tatto. My family would never have one. But i'm completely different to them I've allways been the black sheep. Im creative, love to try new things and want to be a fashion designer and love to stand out.
Should i let my famliy's opinions hold me back on having a tatto and when should i have it i'm 16????

good for you for looking into body art first of all. Well, its illegal for you to get a tattoo until your 18, but if one of your friends is an artist he/she could do it illegally and just keep it secret lol, i guess thats not "good" advice hahaha. I was just like you when i was 16 and your situation sounds exactly like mine. I wanted angel wings tattooed on my back since i was 15 and when i turned 18 last november i finally got em. my mom and my boyfriend freaked out but you know what? they look good and i really like them. thats all that really matters is if you like it and it represents who you are. as long as its not overdone and it stays classy i think body art is awesome and its always interesting to look at. it can get expensive though my tattoo was 250. but i say, if its going to be on your body for a long time its worth investing in.

If you have it done before your tattooist could get in trouble for underage work. Also, there is a really good reason that it is 18 - people change so much and so quickly at this age. I didn't have my first tattoo until I was 27 and I still got a cover up 3 years later!
Try to be patient.

OK, Tattoos are the cool thing to do I suppose. How ever there is much to be considered here: size, location, & theme.
Remember you are still young and probably not done growing, so distortion of the design can / will occur. I would recomend talking face to face to someone around 60 with tattoos. Then decide if you really want to be "branded" for the rest of your life.

your family should have no bearing on what you do in life. you should wait until you are legally old enough to get tattooed and then make an informed decision about the tattoo that you are going to get. do research and find a good artist. don't just go get one on your 18th birthday at the first place you come to just because you can (that's what i did)

when i got my first tattoo i was 18 and nobody in my family had any tattoos. now 8 years later my mom and dad both have 2 tattoos!

Try around 18, when your paying your way thru life, rent, food, transporation and pay for the tattoo. Can be pricey!

If your really going to get on how about a black sheep?
or the head of a ram or female ram?

if you get a tattoo under age 18 not only can the artist get in trouble, your parents could potentially sue the artist and force you to have it removed. i was 28 before i got my first one and it was quite small and i made sure it was put somewhere i could cover if necessary like for a job interview. more and more companies are not hiring people with tattoos or facial piecings. never, ever tattoo a boyfriend's name on your body and always double-check if symbols or foreign languages are actually correct. remember a tattoo is permanent and the process to remove one can take years. good luck and please wait before making such a permanent decision.
