Very rarely do I wish they'd join the other team; I also realise we're all on a learning curve and some of us are further along it than others.
Some were even theists at one stage and managed to break free - that takes courage.
I never had to find courage to become an atheist cos I was always one.
There was a time in my life that I thought I was weird cos I couldn't and didn't get this Invisible Sky Critter thingy - no talking bushes, voices in my head and that sorta thing.

Nothing anyone else does or writes makes me ashamed of being an atheist. What is bad though is that people tend to judge others by groups, so if someone meets a hateful atheist they assume that all atheists are hateful etc.
I don't know who to be annoyed with more, the asshole atheist for giving the rest of us a bad name, or the prejudiced idiot who meets him and automatically assumes that the rest of us are the same.
People have enough misconceptions about atheists as it is. I wish people could understand that atheists don't necessarily have anything else in common than the fact that we don't believe in god(s).

Religion is such a loaded subject. Christians claim to be concerned about others souls, yet they are the first to throw up a fist and be the judge and jury. As a general rule I always take advice on religion and politics with a grain of salt, tread lightly etc...

Not really. Why should I be? Are you embarrassed by what some Deists say here? I do object to the very word Atheist however. Non-theist is closer to the essence of what we are.
Can you see the difference? If not email me and I will send you a diagram.

Even though some atheists are extremists doesn't reflect on ALL atheists. There are some catholics that go to church everyday and base their entire lives around the religion. While others don't feel the need to go to church and believe they can practice their religion on their own. Individually everyone is different and will express their views in their own ways.

Seldom.
"Atheist" describes my position on a single issue--it doesn't describe anything else about me, and doesn't require me to identify with, support or defend anything that anyone else says about any topic. If I do agree with them, it's because I liked what they said (and I agree with believers too, sometimes)
The fact that someone calls themselves an atheist shouldn't mean that what they say reflects back on me personally.

Not really, there are always people like that in every category of life. It's not the belief it's the people. Then again one can't work without the other.

Time was, people who did not believe, still respected those who did. These days some go out of their way to make fun of and ridicule Christians.

Noone should feel ashamed by what other people write unless they are agreeing with that person and what the person is saying is stupid.
We arent responsible for other peoples actions.
