The historical record does hint at a date earlier in the year.
There is many theories why the Xians seemed to have hijacked / adopted / (whatever jardon you prefer) the December dates. Most were about adapting the various indigenous familiar traditions to aid the spread of the faith.

The first Christmas
The Gospels do not mention the date of Jesus' birth. It was not until the 4th century AD that Pope Julius I set 25th December as the date for Christmas. This was an attempt to Christianise the Pagan celebrations that already took place at this time of year. By 529, 25th December had become a civil holiday and by 567 the twelve days from 25th December 25th to the Epiphany were public holidays.
Christmas is not only a Christian festival. The celebration has roots in the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, the festivals of the ancient Greeks, the beliefs of the Druids and the folk customs of Europe.

Christmas was an ancient pagan festival celebrating winter solstice and was hijacked by the church in an attempt to convert the pagans to christianity.
It is not a secret that the church did not now when Jesus was born and chose 25th December to celebrate it.
Spetember 11th is not necessarily true. It is based on calulations of when a supposed bright star existed (I think venus and jupitor being in alignment) could have happened in September 7 years BC, and some other historical records.

We don't know when Jesus was born.
There is some controversy among Christians about celebrating Christmas, however many agree that celebrating his birth is appropriate, even if we aren't certain of when he was born.
The winter is seen as an appropriate time to celebrate, partly because it is a time when many of us need a lift--cold weather can be depressing--and also because it is around the end of the year and is a nice way to make the transition to a new year.
And, merchants make a ton of money during Christmas season.
That's the point.

It is an ancient pagan religious rite to do with the rebirth of the unconquered sun, ie the star at the centre of our solar system. It is not long after the winter solstice, when we have our shortest day in the northern hemishphere. Many of the trappings of Christmas have their origins in the pagan celebrations, including the Christmas tree, Santa Claus, decorations and presents, etc. The Bible warns against following pagan doctrines and rites. (1 Corinthians 10:18-22)

Christmas was originally a Pagan festival, hence the tree etc.
When christianity became 'organised' they needed a date to celebrate when Jesus was born so they just adopted a date that was already a traditional celebration.
I believe that Jesus was born in October and celebrate Christmas as nothing more than a time to spend with friends and family.

Nobody knows when Jesus was born but God and the ones that were there. Christmas is a man-made holiday. I am newly to Jehovah Witness's and according to the Bible, Christmas is not celebrated by Jehovah Witness's. Sure, I Love Christmas cause I was brought up that way, so it is gonna be hard for me to give that up. But the Bible is a true book and Jehovah don't lie. But I know that somewhere in the Bible, it does say something about not celebrating it. But I am new to this and my teacher said that she used to celebrate it also. But at least i am learning about the Bible. God Bless each and everyone of you!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Mormons believe 6th April.
IF there was one person that the jesus myth was based one... and that's a big 'IF'....... then the LEAST likely date for his birth was 25th December, because none of the (contradictory) clues in the NT even *suggest* a December birth
It's is well known that the date selected to celebrate jesus's birth was co-opted from other mid-winter festivals - it had nothing to do with anything in the bible... OT, NT or apocrypha

your neighbor is wrong, no one knows the exact date, except God the Father. True Jesus could not have been born in December, that is proved, but to pinpoint His birthday is not possible , as far as everything I have ever heard. Your neighbor is either the most knowledgable person on earth , to know that....or one of the most arrogant and egotistical people, to think they figured out something that isn't even written in the Bible, and isn't recorded in history.
There is no point to christmas, except for pure commercial greed and pagan worship. You'll have to ask santa claws that question.

The point of it was to put the Birth of Jesus right on top of all the other major European pagan winter festivals that were traditionally on or around the 25th of December,,,supplanting the new Roman church over the old pagan beliefs,,clever bit of Roman pr really
