Some breeds or even dogs that have a heighent sense can sometimes tell or "sense" our dog a golden retrever/boxer mix jumps on almost everybody or at least trys to put a paw up on you when you sit, but when my wife was pregnant both times we knew because the dog stoped, she also seems to not jump up on other pregnant women that have come over to our house. Maybe it is female dog thing, women are more intuitive.

I believe they can sense it. My dog, who was always a good judge of character, looked directly at my friend's stomach when she was pregnant. She then proceeded to lay beside her for the entire visit. I also noticed that my dogs did not play as rough around me when I was pregnant, and they hovered around me more. So yes, I think they can sense there is something there, but I wonder what it is they are thinking.

My dog wasn't necessarily weird, but he did get a little more protective of me.

Sometimes... they sense or smell that you're expecting... My dog was far more protective of me (even didn't want my husband touching me) when I was pregnant.
