Why are these phrases seemingly repeated with every elder I have come across:

I Bear to you my testimony

Burning in my Bossom

The Church is True

exactly almost every time?

That's called a testimony...and a poor one at that. It's a cookie cutter way of telling someone they know the church is true.

I swear...some missionaries are dumb, they don't want to take the time and explain *how* they know the church is true and just tell you that it is.

I hope I can be a better missionary than them lol. Next time you meet an elder and they tell you they know the church is true, ask them how they know, and what happened to them to find out it's true. If they're not running late(for dinner or curfew) they'll probably take a few minutes and tell you.

Because bearing of ones testimony is common when trying to bring the spirit into a room

burning in my bosom is just an expression to try to explain how a testimony feels

if they are bearing their testimony of this burning in their bosom then they would be testifying that the church is true

It isnt some brainwashed lines mormons are fed to recite to anyone they are trying to teach. It is just a common way to express a testimony.

We are taught that bible bashing and arguing over religious differences doesnt really prove anything and it tends to remove the spirit from the conversation. Missionaries arent suppose to engage in confrontational conversations. What they are suppose to do is share what we believe and testify of its truth. This is the best way to bring the spirit in and only that spirit can testify of truth. A missionary him or herself isnt going to convert anyone. It is the spirit of the lord or the Holy Ghost.

By bearing ones testimony it invites the spirit in.

I think a better question is why some people seem to be programmed with the exact same response to every mormon question like, its a cult, they are brainwashed, blah blah blah

Those phrases describe common events that the Elders have experienced.

For example, the Elders are wishing to share their beliefs with anyone who will listen, and in doing so, they wish to share or "bear" their statement of beliefs or their testimony of their beliefs. (In a court of law, one "testifies" of what they know)

How the Elders received their "testimony" of their beliefs, typically comes from the spirit of the Lord bearing witness to them in a "burning of the bosom," or in other words, a warm feeling in their hearts.

The Church is true is also a statement that the Elders like to "testify" of, or again in other words, that they have received a heavenly witness from the Holy Ghost that the LDS church is the true church of Christ.

They are simply sharing their beliefs with you. (or others).

it probably because they bear their testimony many hundreds of times a day and so they get into a rut of just giving the same testimony, whereas they should be listening to the spirit and individualizing it for each person.
