Find a church where your faith may grow. Find a church where God will use you as a channel of blessing.
Church will help you get near to God, and learn more of His words. Religion has nothing to do with your Salvation, so is Church. Only JESUS CHRIST saves!
What makes me believe my faith (instead of religion) is correct?
I have His Words. KJV 1611

I face similar dilemmas...To me, faith seems to be nothing but a safety blanket. People can't seem to stand the fact that there is no underlying meaning in this world, so they cling to the idea of a god to make themselves feel like there is. They say that they have to rely on "faith" for answers, but isn't that just an excuse not to find reasons why? As for the Bible, it's great as far as storybooks go, but it's a sick excuse for something to live your life by. It's been translated erroneously with every new publication to suit the powers that be at the time, it contradicts itself left and right, and it was written by "divine inspiration." I've met plenty of people who've claimed to be divinely inspired...acid seems to have that effect on people. But all jokes aside, this book wasn't written by Jesus, god, or anyone else of significant importance. And as far as historical accuracy goes, there is little evidence to even support the life of Jesus, let alone the rest of the Bible's gang. What evidence there is comes from a handful of historians who have already been proven as liars...And even if he did exist, Jesus isn't special...Deities from hundreds of other religions have been born in poverty, visited by 3 "wise men" upon their birth, started preaching young, gotten sold by a close friend, killed when they were 33, and then risen after 3 days. It's an old legend that started with the Egyptian god Horus. It's amazing what a little research can unearth...but I guess that's something that faith doesn't allow. You just have to accept the "truth"...utter rubbish.

Hello josh. im Radzma.. that was a very nice question and i want you to know that i appreciate your asking... first, the mainbasis of my religion is the Bible... And it was not a non-historical book. If you'll just read the Bible you will see that the it's content is similar to your history book.
But i want to say that there is more important than religion. It is SALVATION through faith in Jesus.Religion makes a person religious but Jesus makes a person righteous.

Let me take a brief time to share my testimony. I was in 6th grade and i was invited to a church retreat where you escape the world and goto an area and just praise worship pray and fellowship. Of course i wasnt interested because i would rather just stay home for winter break, but out of nowhere i wanted to go and spend some time with my friends there. I came back and i really did not know who God was. But the reason i loved this church was because they showed me love and caring. The pastor was like a big brother and seriously had showed me love as much as my parents. As i grew up to be 8th grade. I was asked to go on a mission trip to Indonesia for 2 weeks. Living in USA with all the comfort and all the stuffs you need i dispited the fact that i had to go. But it was a God's calling. I went there and saw people live and just truely exprienced God there. What makes you a christian? Faith. Even though we cant see him with our eyes or hear him with our ears. We have faith and right now im a highschool student i recieved lots of gifts from God. Like leadership ability, the gift of tongue, leader of a committee group and etc. God has changed my life and i live a life where i know my future is bright and pure for God. I know that God has stored something in for me so magnicifient and big. I believe it man. How do you meet God? you pray. Christians pray to communicate with God and its really easy and fun. God bless you brother im praying for you while reading this i hope this can be a good testimony and a blessing upon you.

I am a history major and there is nothing "non-historical" about the bible. I mean, do you even read these things back to yourself before you post? How can "any" book that has been around for over a thousand years be non-historical? Especially one with so little translation errors as the bible. You've got opinions, son, opinions, not facts.

Well, I am Christian.. technically.
I don't believe in the Bible, I believe in evolution.
I don't know if mine is the right religion, but I do know its right for me. If someone else doesn't like it, well, okay. You do you're thing, and I'll stay over here and do mine.
And yes, I have researched it, that's how I know I like it.

1) Just to get your attention, there is little less false than to say that the Bible is unhistorical. It sets me to believe that your sources are all negative and Atheistic. It leads me to believe that you have not examined any other source than Atheist sites and materials.
2) The reason why I believe in the Bible and that the God in the Bible is accurately portrayed more than any other book I know of is because His Spirit lives in me, as Jesus promised. My conversion was very noticeable. I will never forget it.
3) Most importantly, the only reason why I believe is that God gave me the ability to respond to Him positively. According to the Bible, it is against human nature to want to know God. The only reason why anyone is a true believer in God through Jesus Christ is because God wanted that person out of the world.
He does not want everybody, and so does not give them the ability to respond to Him or understand the Bible in spirit and truth.

Sheer faith. The bible says "For why do you hope for what you already see, therefore we hope for what we do not see" Sheer faith is the only thing i can tell you. Judge not lest you be judged i have to live by that principle. God bless
