I keep getting a pain in my chest, it is in between my heart and collar bone on the left side. It feels like a stabbing pain, and is much worse if I take a deep breat/expand my chest.
Although this is not a frequent problem at the moment it does keep happening and is always in the smae place. I am only 21 and otherwise fit and healthy, what could cause this and should I be worried?

You had better get it checked by a cardiologist,,, I had a heart attack in August this year,, These chest pains are warning you something is wrong,, I ignored mine for 2 months, then had heart attack,,, My pain was also between my chest and shoulder,,,Thou during actual heart attack, the pain was in my left arm , as well as my chest and shoulder and radiated to my neck and throat,, I felt also extremely weak and began feeling nauseated on way to hospital,,, Emergency room personal and Cardiologist said I made it there just in time,, When i arrived they could detect no blood pressure even,, IV medication brought back my BP,,And when I was stable they took me to cath lab, and found out my right cor nary artery was 100% blocked,,, They put in a stent,, I don't smoke , My father and grandparents had heart disease, so mine was hereditary..

I would guess you have pulled a muscle and an infection may be lingering. Twenty-one is usually too young for heart problems. Check the link below and see if your symptoms fit the pleurisy mold. Good luck and I hope you feel better, soon.

Probably connected to your lungs. Does it feel like a bit of your lung got stuck together and then it suddenly unsticks and the pain goes away? If you do a few bending exercises and it goes away it might be nothing to worry about. But then I'm no doctor, I have no idea what causes something like that.

You can get inflammation in the tissues around the heart, it can be quite painful. It would be wise to see your family doctor for a solution to this.

I got it once for no apparent reason. A simple pill medication cleared it up.

It's probably a muscle or pleurisy.
