I think you have that backwards. Poor countries have been poor very long and sustain through their poverty. It is the rich countries that are going to suffer and collapse when the sh!t hits the fan.

fi: When fossil fuels are all gone and we have not made our economy dependent on some other commodity it is all of the first world that will prove unsustainable I'm afraid.

The United States of America has the most unsustainable economy in the world, very wasteful, energy rich, with the most extreme consumerism.
And no, it is not linked to poverty.

The US used the most power per capita out of all the G8 nations. And also has one of the highest petroleum consumption rates per capita. So the US is probably the leased sustainable in terms of efficient use of resources.

wel one cant exactly commint abt sustainability of a country bt yes poverty rate in Pakistan, Bangladesh,Indoneshia, India is high as compare to USA,Russia,Japan etc
