So in the bible it God says that gayness is a sin.........So is being gay a sin or is only engaging in a homosexual act a sin? What exactly does it say in the bible about this? Does Judaism say gayness is a sin as well? What about Islam? Would God believe gayness you are born with or is it a choice? Also, someone told me that maybe people later put inthe part about gay people and God didnt say it could that be true? How do we even know that the bible is the exact word of God?????? It is 2000 years old couldn't it get messed up or lost in translation by then?

The bible is simply and only a book & certainly not any thing that validates anything.. just some humans opinions over the years nothing more nothing less. Like in most things human there is some praiseworthyness in it & some utter nonsense.
Gayness (homosexuality) is like "hate" if we didn't have a need it for some reason it wouldn't exist. All that is exists for a reason elsewise it wouldn't exist.. reasonable
N'est-ce pas? Point is humans have no free will so to be gay or black or dumb or pretty or anything is not for a human to determine. Mother nature - god- call it what you want - the uncreated creator..Deals the cards and all one can do is play the hand they're dealt & even how you play your hand is out of your hands. So back to square one! You do what you do because it is the only thing you can do elsewise you'd be doing something else. You are what you are elsewise you'd be something else.

Doesn't require rocket science to come to grips with this simple rationale. But as concerns humans a colorful untruth
often eclipses the truth. Many believe what they want to believe, what makes them comfortable even at the expense of ignoring the obvious facts to the contrary while others can't afford this luxury and are stuck with the truth. But what if the truth precipitates depression & untruths avoid it? What to do, what to do. Don't worry you'll do what you were meant to do.
All you have is awareness of what you & others do but you have no say in the matter. Whats your favorite color? Why?
Can't say realistically can you! Why do you like you you like? Can't say can you! A so much for free will, the dangled carrot, the "big" untruth. Like all else this so called god programmed some to believe they have a free will & others not to so believe, like "it" programmed them to do everything they do, but this sadistic god gave humans awareness because without it they couldn't, wouldn't suffer their torments!.. Ha!

Some naive soul once said "we've got to believe in free will! We've got no other choice!" Ha! People a never ending source of amusement to say the least. They swallow the elephant but choke on the gnat!

God love everyone. People hate people. God loves everyone. I go to church and am a christian and feel really angry that some people preach against gays.

In some ways I stand on the sidelines. I don't know that it would be right if we allowed people who are gay to be ministers and have official roles in the church but they should be loved and accepted as any of us are because we all have challenges and sin. But you know, I'm not 100% convinced it is a sin. So many things have changed from the old testament. There is no doubting that God created men and women to be together otherwise he would have just created one sex to function with everything. He made Adam and Eve to be together. But the thing is, in the old testament, things that use to be acceptable, changed and are no longer regarded as relevant. So if thats the case, why not this too. I do believe that people are gay because of either being born with the different chromosones etc and then their feelings are just natural and automatic, or because of childhood and young adult experiences. For example many gay people I have known were bashed and treated badly by their partners and swung the other way later in life. I have been around a fair few gay people and so know this. But thats not typical of ALL gay people thats for sure. I do sit on the sidelines firstly because who am I to judge and secondly, who am I to say what is right and wrong. I would never hesititate to be friends with someone because of their religion or sexuality, it's only in their heart that counts. DOes that mean I need to accept or approve of their life, absolutely not, but is it my business, no. I would never be gay but it doesn't turn me away from my gay friends. I agree with many of the things you are saying, how do we know some of the bible hasn't been messed up or lost, how do we really know what God things of it in relation to todays world. With each choice we make we have to try and find it in our hearts to make a decision but one thing I know for sure is that GOD LOVES EVERYONE.

I like your question, it is thought provoking and relevant in todays society. Well done on challenging us.

God loves everyone.

Bigots who don't want to except things they can't understand hate gay people.

You have to think about it. God didn't write the Bible in the first place, man did (even the Bible will tell you that). Not only that, but since the original version was written, you have to think: How many times has it been edited since then?? That's a long time...

I'm happy you asked this, theres a documentary about the subject its called; fish out of water or something its on netflix, if you have it.
But what the bible is saying, "A man may not lay with another man." which means a man can't own another man; at one point woman were owned by their fathers or husbands. So at that point they were saying woman had no rights, they were objects. men are not objects so one could not own another man.
Its very interesting the documentary shows that there are miss understandings of the bible.
it even shows how god made gays"in the bible of corse."

The hatred of gays is a persons emotions and nothing to do with the bible. Every Christian sins - asks forgiveness and believes that gives them a clean sheet but the poor bigoted souls believe that cannot be true for gays!!

Perhaps they should remember Jesus preferred sinners to come to him rather than the self righteous!!!

God loves everyone the same. It's only judgemental christians who take things out of context to try to make it appear wrong. Maybe they should just take Human Sexuality in college then maybe they'd learn what actually happens in regards to sexuality. Of course they're too scared too well most of them that is. They want to have ignorance about it and spread hate.

The bible is very clear on this.
It is the act of homosexuality that is condemned...It is against God's plan of creation.
He made Man and woman...for a purpose.
(LEVITICUS 18:23) “‘And you must not give your emission to any beast to become unclean by it, and a woman should not stand before a beast to have connection with it. It is a violation of what is natural.

(LEVITICUS 20:12) And where a man lies down with his daughter-in-law, both of them should be put to death without fail. They have committed a violation of what is natural. Their own blood is upon them.

(ROMANS 1:26-27) That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; 27 and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error.

Full recompense is A.I.D.S.

There was a time that the church condemned Galeleo (and most of the scientific community) to prison for his beliefs, condemned Jews for killing Christ (many still do!), who killed people and entire communities for not believing what they did and were therefore less than the "believers" not worthy of life (Spanish conquistadors, American Indians, Nazi Germany, Pacific Islander communities, American Slavery, Darfur, Saudi Arabia, and the list goes on and on and on) even today. Homophobia is only another "holier than thou" excuse for people in power to de-anthropomorphise (make less than human) those they perceive as different than themselves so they can kill them off and justify their own beliefs.

People who believe the literal translation of a "bible" (Old or New Testament, Koran, or any other text) are downright dangerous for their inability to think beyond literal interpretations. And those that profess to actually talk to God directly are definitely suspect!

President Bartlett's speech to a religious lobbyist on "The West Wing" was a brilliant retort to such literalists:
---------------------------------
Bartlet: I like your show. ...how you call homosexuality an abomination.

Jacobs: I don't say homosexuality is an abomination, Mr. President, the Bible does.

Bartlet: Yes, it does. Leviticus.

Jacobs: 18:22.

Bartlet: Chapter and verse. I wanted to ask you a couple of questions while I had you here. I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She's a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My chief of staff, Leo McGarry, insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important because we've got a lot of sports fans in this town. Touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side-by-side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you?"
----------------

God said? Says who? Religious FUNDAMENTALISM is despicable in any of its wrappers: Christian, Muslem, Jewish, Agnosticism, Atheism, Wiccan, Patriotism, Conservatism, Liberalism (esp neo-anything!)-any belief system that replaces intelligence and tolerance for dogma and faith.
