If Christmas didn't involve lots of presents and booze would you still be looking forward to it each year?? Just wondering because it seems as though very few people celebrate Christmas for it's religious reason.

PS - I don't mean to offend anyone with this Q, I'm just wondering.
Merry Christmas to you all.

I do not celebrate the holidays, because they are not Christian. All the so called Christian holidays are actually Pagan festivals. Christianity adopted these Pagan Festivals and just juiced it up a bit to suit their own wants.

I have lived a modest life. And every Christmas, I don't always get the best gifts that I really want. Christmas has brought a lot of unexplained cheer to me, though I don' t celebrate it with a blast. I celebrate it this way- attend the midnight mass, have some simple dinner with the family, greeting the people in the neighborhood and everyone I see, visit relatives, etc. I am usually broke every Christmas, but that doesn't make me feel like Grinch... I love Christmas and I always look forward to it each year. The real message isn't all about partying and merymaking, it's commemorating the Saviors advent.

Not a big drinker and getting to the point where i give a whole lot more presents than i get and you know what, I still enjoy Christmas. I know that the actual day is not the same as when Christ was born, no shepherd in their right mind would have been tending the flock in the open in December and that the day was chosen to coincide and eventually supplant Yule, but that does not change the fact that it is the day set apart to celebrate his birth.

Christmas is a man invented celebration and really has nothing to do with Jesus' birth.
Jesus never mentioned his birth. Or any importance connected to it. This is man's doing.
Jesus, though, DID ask us to remember his death.
Luke 22:19...1 Corinthians 10: 24,25.
Jesus was about 30 when baptised. He preached for 3 1/2 years. He died on NISAN 14 of the Jewish calendar. this equates to April/May. 33 1/2 years before any april May and you get September/October..NOT december 25.
Also the shepherds at the time of Jesus' birth still had stock [ sheep] out of doors. They would NOT have had them there at December 25 ....it would have been too cold. And Jewish houses of those days had a lower floor to accommodate stock and protect them from cold and snow.

Honestly, no. I love the whole Christmas season, presents, santa and all. I dont look forward to Easter as much as Christmas, even though in reality I think, religiously, Easter is much much more significant because it is about the purpose of the birth of Christ.

Part of the fun of this time of year is the nonsecular hype as well.

but I can leave the booze out without any problem since I am mormon, lol

I don't look forward to it. christmas is not a holiday [which is supposed to mean Holy Day]. There's nothing Holy about christmas, it's Pagan... right down to the christmas tree, wreaths, ornaments, mistletoe, poinsettias, and even the red and white striped candy canes have pagan symbolism in them. The whole idea of christmas is cleverly disguised as being a celedbration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, but in reality it has nothing to do with Him. Even the date is wrong, eventhough the Bible never mentions his birthdate, and they would be the ones to know . I have so much more to say about this, but am too tired to explain it. Do the research, the internet is full of much information about paganism in Christian holidays. Look it up.

yes i would x-mas isnt just about present its about meeting all family members, beeing together this day is very special to me i wish x-mas would be evryday.e.g in my country are all shops closed as its a christian country(we stay at home, cook, chat its really a fun).Since my childhood i have helped my mum with cooking,by the way ..i will never forget it) you cant understand a real meaning of x-mas cos you live in a cosmopolitan contry(a lots of other religions and cultures) so it loses a meaning but if you went to any other christian country you would be very surprised i dont need any special presents 4 this day and i think all christians feel in same way

Maybe not as much... but yeah, I still would, cause even more than the presents, it's about the fellowship I have with those around me, together remembering what Christ did.

It's a fun thing... merry christmas to you too!
