i saw an item about them on t.v. the other day they have seventeen children,and follow some ultra religious christian doctrine, are they an american institution? it appeared so,and what do americans think of them,are they the poster family for ultra religious right wing christians?

They are just a very large family that is not in debt. I'm an atheist, but it doesn't bother me that they think every child is a gift from God - as long as they don't expect me to agree or to support them. They seem happy and well cared for, and that's more than can be said for a lot of 'normal' Christian families in the USA.

The Duggars are an Arkansas family famous for having 17 children. Jim Bob Duggar is a politician and businessman. He belongs to an organizaton called Quiverfull that believes in having large numbers of children. The Duggars are extremely right-wing in their politics and religion, and all of the Duggar children are homeschooled.
