You can tell her/him what you want... but she/he will do what she/he wants to do.
It is better to discuss why... importance of sex, disease, pregnancy, etc. You can try to restrict her/him, but it is better to make her/him think... and have the knowledge to make a good judgment.

Yes, you should. Im a mother to twin 17 yr old girls and I had the sex talk early on many years ago. I would rather them be safe then sorry.
Why dont you want your daughter to have a boyfriend till 18?
If you dont give them a lil leeway they will do it behind your back and without the talk you may be looking at being a grandmother early ,especially since you are away from home. But please if you decide to do the talk, try to do it in person.

You're their Mother, you should be able to talk to them about anything. They would rather have the "sex" talk from Mom than someone else! I would say though that making her wait till she's 18 to have a bf is a little strict. My Father allowed me and my 4 sisters to start dating at 16. IF our grades and such were good. :-) And we had a strict curfew!! Good luck!

You are a bit too late. You should have done several years ago. Why would you keep your daughter from dating until 18? That is just cruel.

its OK to discuss sex with your son and he will listen, although pretend your crazy. but with your daughter, don't make rules u cant enforce. she will break them anyway and you will lose all power of making any kind rule.
